2017 Tony Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 3

As each day to the Tony Awards gets closer and closer I get more and more excited about what the red carpet has in store for us on Sunday night. If any of the recent years have anything to say about it I know that we will be seeing Broadway and Films stars mesh with star models and designers. About 3 years ago I was getting ready to barely cover the Tony Awards because they just weren’t reaching the levels of glamour that other events were. Then the team at the American Theater Wing went to Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour, the mastermind behind the Met Gala, to find out how they could put the awards show back on the hot ticket list. Now gone are the busy, stark, thrown up step and repeats and off the rack gowns. I thank Anna Wintour for bringing the awards back to a major level of glamour and since she has been brought on as a silent consultant we have seen Anna walk the red carpet as a guest. The past two years Anna has walked the red carpet with her daughter wearing couture creations from Chanel and Schiaparelli respectively. I think that if Anna returns to the Tony’s this year that Chanel is a pretty safe bet for her to wear on the red carpet. I think that this white strong shoulder Chanel Spring 2017 Couture sequin embellished tweed coat gown which features a statement collar, pockets, an embellished modesty panel, and a belted waist screams Anna and I think that for the Tony red carpet that it would be perfection. I would imagine that the gown would be styled with Anna’s signatures: a pair of silver Manolo Blhanik “AW” sandals, black sunnies, and her signature necklaces. The race for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical is incredibly tight and Christine Ebersole is up against her War Paint co-star for the title. I am still betting that the award will go to Bette Midler but I still want to see all the ladies in the category really bring it. I think that Christine Ebersole would look so chic on the Tony Awards red carpet wearing this beautiful yellow and silver metallic floral jacquard Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 RTW ensemble which features a cap sleeve, belted coat top and a full length ball skirt with a high waist fit, and an exaggerated front slit detail. This is a very classic Carolina Herrera look and I think that with her feminine yet regal presence that Christine would look very chic wearing this creation on the red carpet at the Tony Awards.Eva Noblezada is a hometown favorite for me. Eva is from the same area I live in in Charlotte, North Carolina and it was at the regional theater awards that Eva won the Best Actress at the regional theater awards and then was discovered at the National Musical Theater Awards by a Broadway casting director who had her audition for the West End revival of Miss Saigon in London. The Filipino-American actress then transferred her role of Kim to Broadway, and has earned herself a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical thanks to it all. For her first Tony Awards I made a bold choice going with a hot off the runway gown with this beige and navy J. Mendel Resort 2018 strapless tulle ball gown with gorgeous pleated draping on the bodice and a sweetheart neckline. Eva is a rising star but I don’t know if even with the power of Anna Wintour behind her if J. Mendel would release this gown to her. I think that for her first Tony’s that it would be a beautiful princess moment and I expect that will be the case when she does step out on the red carpet no matter who she is wearing. Jane Krakowski announced the nominees for this years Tony Awards and I would expect that she will be a guest in attendance at this years ceremony after being nominated last year. When it comes to her style Jane can be very hit or miss for me and I am hoping that she is a hit like she was last year. I went with this gorgeous black and red sequined Badgley Mischka Fall 2017 RTW column gown with an asymmetrical floral embroidered neckline for her to wear this year. This gown is simple in its silhouette but still packs an extremely glamorous punch. I was excited that after taking a break from showing that Badgley Mischka was back on the runway during New York Fashion Week. This gown is chic, bold, feminine, and glamorous and I do think that Jane Krakowski would deliver this gown as a beautiful red carpet moment at the Tony Awards. When it comes to featured actress nominees at the Tony Awards we rarely find a-list stars among the list of nominees, and that it no different this year for the Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play nominees. Before Anna Wintour started pairing nominees I would just forget about these stars, and now we see these actresses wearing gorgeous gowns by some of the best of the best designers. Sweat featured actress Michelle Wilson is beautiful and when I was looking for gowns for the nominees to wear when I saw this gorgeous blush punk Lela Rose Spring 2017 RTW gown which features a fitted bodice, a flared A-line skirt, and floral embroidered organza detailing I thought of how pretty Michelle would look wearing this gown on the red carpet. The gown is pure femininity and I think that it Michelle would look beautiful wafting down the red carpet in this confection. Tina Fey will be among the army of a-list presenters at this years Tony’s. I would imagine that is because she is getting ready to workshop her Mean Girls musical over the fall at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. ahead of an expected Broadway opening in March or April of next year. When it comes to her style for big red carpet appearances I have been really impressed with Tina’s moments so I am expecting something really pretty from her. I think that this black velvet Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 RTW mermaid gown which features a one shoulder neckline, a fitted bodice, yellow crystal floral embellishments, and a full skirt would be gorgeous. With all the red carpet love that this collection is getting I am expecting that we will see at least one Oscar de la Renta gown on the red carpet at the Tony Awards and I do think that this gown on Tina would be an absolutely beautiful moment.

2017 Tony Awards are Sunday June 11, 2017.
