Cannes 2017: “Claire’s Camera” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Isabelle Huppert’s new film Claire’s Camera is slated to be one of the gala out of competition screenings at this years festival. Isabelle became one of my ones to watch over the course of awards season and I am really excited to see what she will wear over the the course of her run at this years festival. The gown I picked for Isabelle to wear for the in competition premiere of Happy End has already been worn at this years festival, by Fan Bingbing, so I am just feeling the vibes of this years festival. Because Claire’s Camera is one of the out of competition gala screenings I am really putting some pressure on Isabelle Huppert to really deliver some major looks while promoting the film on the Croisette. Since awards season Isabelle has been seated front row at both the Louis Vuitton Fall 2017 RTW show in Paris and the labels Cruise 2018 show in Kyoto so I am kind of expecting one of her looks over her two days at the festival to come from the label. I am not the biggest fan of Louis Vuitton evening wear but there are a bunch of more casual looks from the label that I would like to see. I think that this Louis Vuitton Fall 2017 RTW ensemble which features a white button down blouse and camel cropped pants which features white stitching down each leg would be a perfect look for Isabelle to wear for a photocall. The looks screams French simplicity and I really do think that Isabelle would look incredibly chic wearing this ensemble. With a pair of simple black pumps and a great pair of sunglasses I know that Isabelle would ensure that she brings her signature effortless glamour to the Croisette. For the premiere I went with something very very glamourous with this beautiful Valentino Spring 2017 Couture long sleeve gown covered with floral embroidery and overlaid with a tulle cape. This is a more visually complicated look than we are used to seeing Isabelle wearing on the red carpet, but I do think that for a big gala premiere at the Cannes Film Festival that it would be a perfect choice for her to wear. Rounding the look out with a dark berry red lip, her signature loose waves, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of gold sandals would really make this one of Isabelle’s best looks this year.Claire’s Camera is an out of competition screening that will take place in a side theater at the Palais de Festivals. For these screenings we usually see casts bundled onto the same red carpet as the film that is being screened in the main Grand Theater Lumiere. Over the course of the festival we will see members of different juries on various red carpets. We have already seen Uma Thurman on the red carpets twice during the festival so far. The first in a gorgeous custom Atelier Versace gown and the second in a Giuseppe Zanotti design yesterday that didn’t go over as well. I have made very few wishes for Uma to wear over the course of the festival so I thought I would add one more for the premieres. I think that Uma would be the epitome of statuesque glamour on the red carpet on the steps of the Palais wearing this gold velvet Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture gown. I have wanted to see this gown on a red carpet since it was first presented and I do think that Uma would more than do it justice. The gown deserves a major platform and I don’t know if you can get any more major than the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. A glamorous 40’s inspired updo, lined eye, nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of gold sandals would make this a truly captivating moment for Uma to deliver during her time as the Un Certain Regard jury president.

The 2017 Cannes Film Festival is now open and will run though Sunday May 28, 2017. The premiere of Claire’s Camera will take place on Sunday May 21, 2017.
