Cannes 2017: “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

I have been following the photos of the airport arrivals at the Nice Airport ahead of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The stars are starting to trickle into the French Riviera ahead of the festival opening on Wednesday and I am getting even more excited as the days draw ever nearer. We have reached my third of four premiere wishes for a Nicole Kidman film at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. I am really interested in seeing what she, and her co-stars, are going to deliver during this years edition.  After laying low for a while we are seeing a big reemergence of Alicia Silverstone and I am intrigued to see what she will start to deliver on the red carpet. With a role in The Killing of a Sacred Deer I hope that we see Alicia step out on one of the biggest red carpets in the world. I went on a hunt for labels that Alicia has favored in the past, but the only one that I came across that creates anything Cannes worthy was Christian Siriano. I do wonder if we will see Alicia expand her repertoire of labels during this years additions or if she will stay in her comfort zone. I have to think that Alicia will play it safe, sticking to brands that she knows work for her. So I went to some of the different Siriano collections to pick the perfect looks for Alicia to wear for her Cannes appearances. For the photocall I thought that this white sleeveless Christian Siriano Spring 2017 RTW trumpet dress which features 3-D lace would be perfect. This dress is light and breezy and to stand in front of photographers on the balcony that this would be a beautiful moment for Alicia. The perfect finishing touches for this look include a pair of nude sandals, loose waves, lined eye, and red lip. For the premiere I went with the go big or go home mentality of the festival picking this mauve pink Christian Siriano Fall 2017 RTW silk faille gown features a round neckline with wide straps, a fitted bodice, and a full length ball skirt. This gown is simplistic yet dramatic and I think that for her first Cannes red carpet that this would be the perfect look for her to bring to life on the red carpet. Rounding this look out with a loose updo, lined eye, pink lip, a dazzling diamond necklace, and a pair of pink sandals would just make for the perfect looks for Alicia to reemerge on the world stage. By this point you know how excited I am to see Nicole Kidman really own the red carpets at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The gorgeous redhead is one who can be up and down with her style, and I am hoping that when it comes to all of her Cannes appearances this year that Nicole is nothing but high glamour on the red carpets during her whole run on the red carpets of this years festival. Back when I first saw this blue and white tye-dye Giles Deacon Fall 2016 Couture sheath dress Nicole was the first person I thought of bringing this gown to life on the red carpet. This might be a fall dress, but I think that it is breezy and elegant enough to bring to the balcony for the photocall of The Killing of a Sacred Deer. For the premiere I went to my newest runway obsession of the Chanel Cruise 2018 collection. I knew I wanted to see Nicole wear a look from this collection during Cannes and I picked this beautiful black and gold ruffled strapless column gown which features a beautiful gold and jeweled belted waistline. This look is a dramatic and glam option for Nicole without it being something that has a big skirt or a full train. When it comes to dressing for a Cannes premiere we are more likely to see Nicole wear a simpler silhouette as casts link arms to walk the red carpet and Nicole is usually center stage in that regard. Completing this look with full glam including a romantic updo, red lip, smokey eye, and black sandals would make this another major moment for Nicole to rock on the Cannes red carpet. I adored the Alexis Mabille Spring 2017 Couture collection and I am really excited to see what, if anything, gets worn during the course of this years festival. We usually see one or two looks from the label on the red carpet during Cannes, and it is usually on the backs of some of the French stars. I would love it if Fan Bingbing stepped onto a red carpet wearing this bold red Alexis Mabille Spring 2017 Couture bustier sheath gown which features flounces of organza caught by strands of diamonds draped across the back. I have been talking about Fan going big or going home and for the most part that means big ballgowns and dramatic trains. This gown is dramatic in its own right and more along the lines of what I come to expect from jury members wearing on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. The look evokes both vibes of the 1940’s thought the drama of the 1980’s and I think that if anyone could make this gown come to life on the red carpet it would be Fan. I think that if she wore this gown that Fan would go full 40’s with the styling with glamorous victory rolls, a smokey eye, red lip, diamond and ruby earrings, a jeweled red clutch, and a pair of matching red peep toe pumps to make this a major moment. While I went for a sheath gown for Fan I went for the big bold ball gown for Jessica Chastain to wear. I have mentioned several times that I am really excited that more and more Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gowns have been making rounds on the red carpet and I hope that we see some of them on the red carpet at this years festival. I think that Jessica would look absolutely gorgeous wearing this Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2015 Couture ensemble which features a gold embellished strapless bustier and a hand painted ball skirt. I think that while printed gowns like this usually read more youthful and fun than glamour and Cannes, but I know that Jessica would make it extremely light, breezy, and dramatic statement on the red carpet at the festival. Loose waves, neutral eyes, a pink lip, and a pair of gold pumps would make this look total perfection.

The premiere of The Killing of a Sacred Deer will take place on Monday May 22, 2017. The 2017 Cannes Film Festival will open on Wednesday May 17 and runs through Sunday May 28, 2017.
