Cannes 2017: “How To Talk To Girls At Parties” Photocall & Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Cannes 2017 is going to be absolutely amazing. With each day that the festival draws nearer I get more and more excited about what the festival is going to bring. We have heard of great parties surrounding the premieres hosted by stars like Rihanna, Cara Delevinge, Natalie Portman, and Naomie Harris. One of the things that I am excited is that some of my red carpet favorites have multiple premieres. How To Talk To Girls At Parties stars Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman both have multiple premieres this year. Elle has two and Nicole has four. Both have been having pretty good years on the red carpet so far so I am hoping that for each of their premieres this edition that they have nothing but major moments. It was at Cannes last year while promoting The Neon Demon that I really started to appreciate Elle Fanning’s red carpet style. I cannot wait to see what Elle will bring to the red carpet at the festival this year. For her photocall I would love to see Elle step out on the balcony overlooking the Croisette for the photocall for How To Talk To Girls At Parties wearing this blue stripe men’s shirting Thom Browne Pre-Fall 2017 sleeveless dress, well kinda since the shirt sleeves are the belt for the waist. I have loved this dress since I first saw it, and I do think that Elle would make it into something gorgeous for her Cannes photocall. I think that with a pair of navy and white Chanel pumps, loose waves, and neutral makeup would make this a beautiful red carpet moment for the photocall. Upping the glamour for the premiere I stuck with the white vibe for Elle to wear. I think that Elle would look beautiful walking the Cannes red carpet wearing this white Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Spring 2017 floral embellished tulle ball gown. This is my third straight wish that features Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda on the red carpet. I think that the couture side of Dolce should be embraced more and slowly but surely that is happening.I think that Elle would look angelic in this creation. Styling it with a sleek low bun, lined eye, pink lip, and a pair of white sandals would really just add finishing touches to this look for Elle to wear for this premiere. How To Talk To Girls At Parties is just one of the four films that Nicole Kidman will promote at this years Cannes Film Festival and on top of that she is also on the host committee for this years amfAR gala. With that many looks, nine that I am aware of, I am praying to the fashion gods that she is back on top form. I really do believe that Nicole can deliver some of the best looks of the festival. I want to see Nicole really go for it and take risks, but also make glamorous decisions. The first look I have picked for Nicole to wear during her time at Cannes is this blue and white polka dotted Maison Margiela Fall 2017 RTW shirt dress which dress features a sheath silhouette, velvet sleeves, embellished pockets, and a cutout detail at the bodice. This look is pushing the envelope for Nicole. I first thought it may be a tad bit warm to wear outside on the balcony overlooking the riviera, but honestly I think that Nicole would be able to power through it. The dress is a classic statement undone in a very modern way, which is what I love about watching Galliano flourish at Maison Margiela. I don’t think that we will see Nicole Kidman take two risks in one day. For the premiere I went with this grey Chanel Spring 2017 Couture tired column gown which features a plunging neckline and a belted waisted. This gown screams Nicole and I think that it would be such a modern and glamorous moment on the red carpet. With a loose updo, lined eye, light pink lip, silver sandals, diamond cluster earrings, and a statement diamond cuff this will be one of Nicole’s best red carpet looks ever. Ruth Wilson will be making her Cannes debut this year with the premiere of How To Talk To Girls At Parties. I am really interested in seeing what she is going to bring to the red carpets. When it comes to her style I either am really exited by what Ruth wears, or I am incredibly underwhelmed. I am hoping that when Ruth steps out for the films photocall that Ruth delivers something beautiful and breezy. This blue stripe Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2017 wrap dress which features ruffled hem, cap sleeves, and a ruffled neckline would do exactly that. This dress is just screaming wear me at Cannes, and I do think that with her red locks, a pair of blue sandals, and fresh faced makeup that this would become the perfect photocall ensemble. For the premiere I want to see Ruth go for the glamour with this black and blush strapless Christian Dior Spring 2017 Couture gown which reminds me a lot of vintage Charles James styles. I think that this style would be so gorgeous and a very romantic look for Ruth to wear on the red carpet. With a chic romantic updo, smokey eye, dark red lip, and a vintage yellow gold and diamond necklace Ruth would make a beautiful impact on her first Cannes premiere red carpet. It is not often we see a very sexy side of Fan Bingbing, who’s go to look is grand and princess-y. I think that seeing the gorgeous Chinese actress take to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival during her jury tenure this year wearing this Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture gown which features a sheer illusion bodice and tired skirt. This look does not scream Fan at first look, but I think that she would definitely deliver this as an absolutely beautiful moment. I can picture Fan softening this look with vintage inspired Veronica Lake wave, a smokey eye, and a red lip. Adding a silver clutch, silver pumps, and a pair of dainty diamond earrings would just finish this wow moment for Ms. Bingbing. As you know I am really excited about this years jury. With the festival being shorter than normal the amount of star power has been upped this year and I cannot wait to see what the jury will bring to the red carpets over the course of the festival. In my dream world we would see Jessica Chastain on at least one red carpet every single day of the festival. One look I would love to see her wear is this black and white floral strapless tea length gown from the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 RTW collection. I am hoping that after Daisy Ridley wore a custom gown from Oscar de la Renta with this same print to the Met Gala that someone will still wear the runway look and I do think that Jessica would wear it extremely well. With a chic pair of embellished black sandals, a sleek beehive updo, winged eyeliner, red lip, and a pair of diamond and emerald earrings this would be another gorgeous moment for Jessica.

The How To Talk To Girls At Parties premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival will take place on Sunday May 21, 2017.

  1. Where did you get the Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda image from? I’ve looked everywhere for pictures of the collection and can’t find any.
