Prada Resort 2018: A Mismatched Mess

Yesterday Muccia Prada gathered a group of fashion elite in a small room overlooking the famous dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan to present her first solo Resort show since 2010. When it comes to her runway shows I get very up and down. I wanted to love this collection, but overall I just wasn’t vibing with it. This season Muccia seemed to look back at the looks she has created over the 15 years and pieced together this collection and it just didn’t work. There are spectacular pieces. I won’t deny that when you break this collection down piece by piece that it fairs far better than the runway’s looks as a whole. The off the shoulder color blocked zip up windbreaker is something that I can picture being a huge street style hit. But the feather trims, which were a huge focus of the spring 2017 collection, just fell flat like they did then and I love feathers..  It will be a tough sell for anyone to actually make me like any of these looks on a red carpet, but I am sure that there are some starlets who will give it a shot. Diane Kruger, Dakota Fanning, Kate Bosworth, Rihanna, Emma Roberts, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Gigi Hadid, Keira Knightley, Eva Mendes, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst, Miley Cyrus, and Rooney Mara are some of the names who I think could potentially turn some of these looks into something that I might possibly like. You can check out all my favorite looks from the Resort 2018 collections and my immediate wishes as to who I want to wear them over on my Pinterest page.
