Cannes 2017: L’Orealista Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

Today’s wishes for L’Oreal ladies at Cannes include some of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet during the festival. Couture and drama are the language that these ladies speak ever so fluidly and I cannot wait to see on the red carpet. Of these five women two featured in my best of Cannes last year and each has been on the list in years past. I hold each of these ladies to high regard with respects to their red carpet styling and I cannot wait to see what they are going to bring to the red carpet this year. Italian supermodel Bianca Balti was one of those who made the best of Cannes list last year in a dramatic blue tulle Alberta Ferretti gown. That was at the opening ceremony and I was so captivated by the look that even by the end of the duration of the festival it was still on my mind. I hope that Bianca delivers yet another glamorous moment again this year. I went back to Alberta Ferretti to create another gorgeous moment for Bianca. I really wanted to see someone wearing this Alberta Ferretti Spring 2017 RTW ensemble and I fear that it is lost to the archive. Cannes is really the last place where I think that we could potentially see this look on the red carpet. I think that Bianca would wear the black white leather braided belt bustier and fuchsia tired ruffle silk peasant ball skirt with ease on the red carpet. This isn’t a look for the opening ceremony, but it is something that I can see Bianca wearing on any of the other premiere red carpets. Following that I went with something more feminine by way of this pink halter Alberta Ferretti Spring 2017 Couture gown draped with pleated silk. Bianca has never worn Versace on the red carpet, but I think that this would be a totally gorgeous moment for her to deliver her first moment with the label on the red carpet and what better place to do so than the Cannes Film Festival. Bianca is a friend and face of Dolce & Gabbana and has worn more than one of the Italian design duo’s gowns on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. I would expect that another gorgeous gown from the label is in store for her this year. I went to this gilded gold Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2015 gown for Bianca to wear on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Bianca has never worn a ball gown on the red carpet before, but I think that this gown would be perfect. We have been seeing more and more Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda on the red carpet and I think that this would be the moment for Bianca, it has the potential to be that big wow moment that I am hoping for. I would bet custom gowns but any of these would be absolutely gorgeous moments.Making a set of wishes for Fan Bingbing to wear for her L’Oreal duties is a little silly since her duties this year will see her loyalties lie with her feature film jury duties. I am really excited to see what Fan will do over the course this years festival. I am hoping that we get at least one red carpet moment every single day from the gorgeous Chinese actress. I had already planned this post when it was announced that Fan had joined the jury so I decided that why not throw in three extra gowns for her to wear on the red carpet? The first is a very luxe long sleeve Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture a-line embellished gown which features a belted waist and feathered cuffs. This looks screams 30’s glamour to it’s core and I think that Fan could deliver this old Hollywood moment to perfection. When I first saw this powder blue and white Ralph & Russo Fall 2016 Couture gown walk the runway last July my first thought was that it was going to be a gown saved for Cannes, and it hasn’t been worn yet so I think my hopes could come true. Fan Bingbing can work a big gown with ease so I think that it would be a perfect look for her to bring to life on the red carpet. Fan is one of the few brave souls who has worn Viktor & Rolf on the red carpet and I am really hoping that she is able to get her hands on one of the deconstructed and reconstructed ball gowns from the labels Spring 2017 Couture collection. These looks are true works of art and there aren’t many that I can actually picture wearing these gowns on the red carpet, but with the ease that Fan has worn very complicated gowns in the past I have the upmost faith in her being able to pull this look off on the red carpet. Julianne Moore was also on my best dressed of Cannes list in her custom embellished cobra Givenchy Couture gown at the opening ceremony. I cannot wait to see what Julianne has in store for this years festival. On top of her L’Oreal duties Julianne will also be promoting a film at the festival, the wishes for that will come later. These three looks are what I want to see Julianne wear for her L’Oreal duties. Earlier this week Karl Lagerfeld presented his Cruise 2018 collection for Chanel and I cannot wait to see who will bring it to life on the red carpet and I bet that we will see a few of the looks on the red carpet at Cannes. I think that Julianne would be the perfect person to bring this ivory draped column gown which features a cap sleeve and a jeweled gold waistband belt to life on the red carpet. It screams please wear me on the riviera and I really do think that Julianne would wear it with ease. Following that I chose something a little more dramatic. It isn’t often that we see Julianne wearing flowing gowns on the red carpet, but I think that this red caped gown from the Giambattista Valli Fall 2106 Couture collection would be a perfect look for the breezy red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. Rounding out my L’Orealista wishes for Julianne is this black velvet Monse Fall 2017 RTW gown which features a mock neck, full length sleeves, and a cut out at the shoulder. This gown is the more structured look that we are used to seeing Julianne wearing on the red carpet. Velvet in May on the French Riviera might be a little warm, but that hasn’t stopped Julianne in the past. I think that a statement earrings would really make this a WOW look for Julianne. For the most part when it comes to her red carpet style the only time I usually get behind Liya Kebede is when she is on the carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. For the most part all of Liya’s past looks at Cannes have been short and I get behind them because I feel like only she could get away with wearing short looks at Cannes where gowns are expected. For this year I went with two short looks and a gown for Liya to wear on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. First is a short red and white sequin asymmetrical Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2017 RTW midi dress. I think that this fun and bold cocktail dress is right up Liya’s ally of red carpet dressing and that it would be so much fun on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. While the DVF dress is fun I went with a more dramatic and glamorous look with this puffy sleeve Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture mini dress. This dress is perfection and I think that it would be such a fun look on the red carpet at Cannes. The last look that I want to see Liya wearing at Cannes is this one shoulder crushed velvet Saint Laurent Fall 2017 RTW draped one shoulder gown which features an uber sexy split to there and a brown leather ruffle on the shoulder. Liya at Cannes was literally the first thing I thought of when I first saw this gown and is definitely one of the wishes that I am most hoping will come true. Rounding out today’s wishes is the gorgeous Zoe Saldana who has killed Cannes in past years. Coming off the heels of the release of her latest film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 I would kind of expect that Zoe will be out in full force on the red carpet at Cannes this year. In the past Zoe has worn Victoria Beckham, Jason Wu, Armani Prive, and Valentino and most have been pretty low key. I went for some bigger looks for Zoe to wear for this years red carpet. The first is a fairy princess inspired moss green tulle Christian Dior Spring 2017 Couture ball gown which features red embroidered poppies. This gown is the embodiment of bohemian glamour and I think that Zoe would just ooze chic sophistication on the red carpet wearing this gown. In total contrast to the Dior is this orange and pink Monse Pre-Fall 2017 structured and draped long sleeve gown which features a mock neck and a cold shoulder. This gown is similar to the black velvet gown I picked for Julianne, but each are glamorous in their own way. Julianne would do well with the black velvet and Zoe would do this color and I don’t think that either could swap their gowns. Finishing this set of wishes with one of my favorite gowns of the Fall 2016 Couture collections. I think that Zoe would deliver this dark bohemian meets vampiress Zuhair Murad Fall 2016 Couture ball gown which features three quarter length bell sleeves, embellished lace, and a tiered skirt with such glamour. I can just see this gown fitting right in on the riviera despite it being black. It is full glam but still relaxed all at the same times and I cannot wait to see it on the red carpet.
