With each day we are getting closer and closer to this years Cannes Film Festival and with the Met Gala firmly behind us now I am just growing ever more excited with the lead up to this years festival. We are in the middle of my L’Orealista wishes for this years festival. As I have mentioned every year L’Oreal sponsors the festival and sends their spokesmodels to walk the red carpet just to enhance the glamour on the red carpet. Couple them with the stars that are promoting films and the glamorous members of the jury and we are in store for what is shaping up to be the best year yet. At Cannes the protocol is usually go big or go home. None lives up to that standard as well as Thai actress and superstar Araya A. Hargate. The actress has never met a ball gown that she hasn’t loved. In past years we have seen the rather petite actress rocking ginormous gowns from Ralph & Russo, Zuhair Murad, Jean Paul Gaultier, Ashi Studio, Atelier Versace, Zac Posen, Kaufmanfranco, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Giambattista Valli in past years and they are almost always the most talked about looks of the festival. I love creating wishes for stars who take risks because I get to use looks that I might never get to feature otherwise. I get to to that even more so with the L’Orealista’s at Cannes because they have no restraints from studios as to just how far they can go. One of those looks that I can’t see anywhere but Cannes is this light pink sculpted Chanel Spring 2017 Couture bell shaped tea length gown which features a gorgeous silver sequined bodice. Now Araya may or may not be too petite to be able to really make a gown like this come to life, but with her history I think it would be a really major red carpet moment. Following that I went to something that we are a little more accustomed to seeing on Araya with this strapless white Ralph & Russo Fall 2016 Couture sculpted organza ball gown which features beautiful light pink floral embroidery. This is a true Cannes gown at its heart and I do think that of all the ladies who I have heard are going to Cannes that Araya is the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the red carpet. The last wish that I have for Araya is another of those wishes that I am only able to make because anything grand goes at Cannes. I didn’t even save a picture of this strapless Zuhair Murad Spring 2017 Couture peplum ball gown embellished with silver and gold beaded fireworks because I knew that it was a showpiece and that there was basically zero chance that it would ever make onto a red carpet, then I started thinking about Cannes. Most of the gowns that Araya has worn on the red carpet have been ones I thought would have been left to the archives. I think that with the dramatic glamour of this look that it would be yet another winning look for Araya at Cannes. Doutzen Kroes has not been living up to the level of glamour that I know she can deliver on the red carpet. At the Met Gala earlier this week I was really let down by how she delivered the gorgeous red Brock Collection gown which was one of my favorite looks of the Fall 2017 RTW collections on the red carpet. I am holding out hope that with Cannes and the promo tour for Wonder Woman coming up that she will be back on top form ASAP. I went with full glam looks for Doutzen on the red carpet. The first is a silver long sleeve sequined wrap gown from the Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2015 Couture collection. I have been surprised that this gown has never been on the red carpet with how it screams luxe glam. I think that the thick black belt that the gown was styled with on the runway scares most off. I think that a belt would elevate this gown but I would go with a sleeker black patent leather waistband style than the runways. Following that with this tiffany blue Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2017 gown which features a rounded neckline, allover intricate beaded detail, and Juliet style sleeves would be gorgeous. This gown is a little more intricate in style than Doutzen has worn in the past, but with the motto of Cannes being go big or go home I say she should go for it. Finally I have a very romantic look for Doutzen to wear on the red carpet. I think that this black victoriana inspired velvet Ulyana Sergeenko Spring 2017 Couture gown is a little out of season for the light and airy vibes of the Cannes Film Festival, but that Doutzen would look gorgeous wearing it on the red carpet regardless. Doutzen joined Natalia Vodinova as the stars of this runway show during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week so I think the likelihood that she will don the label during Cannes really likely. Jane Fonda skipped her L’Oreal duties at Cannes last year and she was missed greatly. I want to see Jane bring her signature glamour back to the Croisette wit this years edition. I love Jane and her sexy at any age style. Jane always picks the sexiest designs from the likes of Elie Saab, Atelier Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Saint Laurent, and Emilio Pucci for the red carpet. Each of the gowns I picked for Jane to rock on the red carpet at Cannes would just enhance her signature sexy drama on the red carpet. I would imagine that one of Jane’s looks will come courtesy of a custom Atelier Versace creation, but I couldn’t find a single look from the Versace archive for her to wear so I went to some of her other favorite labels. First ups is a gorgeous black Elie Saab Fall 2016 Couture long sleeve a-line gown which features a draped wrap style skirt and black and purple beaded embellishments on the bodice. This gown has more volume than we are used to seeing Jane rock on the red carpet, but I think that Jane would just breathe a regal air into it. The next look I picked for Jane to wear at Cannes is this black, white, and yellow Emilio Pucci Spring 2017 RTW gown which features a color blocked design motif, pleated detailing, and a sheath styled silhouette. The gown is a little more bohemian than Jane’s normal look, but I think that if Jane had this gown crafted in liquid sequins instead of chiffon that it would make for a much more Jane like red carpet moment. Finishing this set of wishes with Tom Ford is a bit of a stretch. Jane has never worn Tom Ford on the red carpet before and with some of Tom’s favorite ladies scheduled to walk the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals I wonder if she could start to foster a relationship with the label. I think that this earthy caped long sleeve sequin column gown from the Tom Ford Spring 2017 RTW collection would be something right up Jane’s ally and I do think that Jane is one of the perfect embodiment of the older Tom Ford woman. Whatever Jane wear I know that she will deliver some really great moments if she walks the red carpet this year. I find it incredibly hard to grasp why Lea Michele has never made the jaunt from the states to the French riviera to represent L’Oreal since she first signed her contract in 2012. Every year since I have said “I hope this year is the year” and that is a sentiment that I am going to echo again for this year. Lea’s signature dramatic glamour would fit in perfectly on the red carpet at Cannes and I think that with one of L’Oreal’s most dramatic spokesmodels taking a seat on this years jury that the beauty brand will be calling all hands on deck. Most L’Oreal girls go strictly for European designers when it comes to dressing for the festival and I think that Lea could bring more of a variety. The only couture brand that I picked for Lea to rock on the red carpet at Cannes is Elie Saab. Lea has had so many beautiful moments on the red carpet in Elie Saab and I think that this gold embellished a-line gown which features a beautiful bodice. This is a beautiful gown which would fit in perfectly on the red carpet at Cannes. The other looks I picked for Lea come from New York based designers that I love to see her wearing on the red carpet. The first is this gorgeous purple Marchesa Fall 2017 RTW one shoulder draped tulle gown which features an embroidered bodice. This gown is a pure definition of dramatic glamour and I think that Lea will deliver with the attitude and elegance that it needs to really be a major red carpet moment. Last but not least I have this black and white Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 RTW strapless floral tea length gown which features a full ball skirt. I think that on Lea’s petite frame that this gown would hit the floor and that it would still be a major red carpet moment. I think that if the gown was tailored perfectly that the tea length look would be great on Lea too. Whatever looks she wears I know that whenever Lea makes her first Cannes appearance that she will deliver some major moments on the red carpet.Rounding out this list is the always gorgeous Sonam Kapoor who will be on the carpets representing L’Oreal Paris India on the croisette again this year. Sonam has a history of being another who goes for the glam with the go big or go home mentality and I cannot wait to see what looks she brings to the red carpet this year. Last year Sonam exclusively wore Ralph & Russo for her Cannes Film festival appearances and each one was gorgeous, though I am hoping to see more variety in her looks this year. It was honestly hard for me to pick just three looks for the gorgeous actress to wear on the red carpet. Elie Saab is usually one of the kings of the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and there are so many looks from the labels recent collections that I want to see on the red carpet. This gold and blue embellished tulle a-line gown from the Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture collection which features feathered shoulders is one of those looks that I can only see working at Cannes and only on certain people. Sonam has the regality to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. Following that with this strapless yellow ruffled Giambattista Valli Spring 2017 Couture ball gown would be just another wow moment. I wanted to see this gown on the red carpet during the Beauty and the Beast promo tour, but since that didn’t happen I think that Cannes is the next perfect place for it to be worn and that Sonam is the perfect person to wear it with ease on the red carpet. I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t pick one Ralph & Russo gown for Sonam to wear on the red carpet at Cannes. I think that this light blue ball gown from the Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture collection which features a structured bodice and a 3D sculpted skirt would be perfect. This is a statement making moment and that is Sonam’s specialty. I can honestly say that I am most eagerly anticipating what Sonam will bring to the red carpet this year.
