2017 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 17

We have finally reached my final day of wishes for the 2017 Met Gala red carpet. This years gala is just a week away and I cannot wait to see what this red carpet is going to bring. The theme of Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo might be a little tricky to navigate and I just hope that we will have a host of really dramatic looks on the red carpet. Chloe Grace Moretz has attended the Met Gala for the past three years. For two of those years Chloe has worn Coach (in 2016 and 2015) and Chanel for her first Met Gala in 2014. Chloe has been the face of Coach, which is why she wore the brand for the last two years, but I think that since Selena Gomez has stepped into that role that maybe Chloe will step out and give us something different this year. I honestly had a really hard time picking a dress for Chloe because I just didn’t feel anything really screamed her style. In past years Prabal Gurung has dressed Hailee Steinfeld, Emily Ratajkowski, Kristen Wiig, Ciara, Demi Lovato, and Greta Gerwig. These ladies range in level of stardom, career path, and taste and I think that Chloe would be the perfect person to add to that list. While she has never worn the label on the red carpet as I have said a few times during the course of these wishes, what better place to make a brand debut than on the red carpet at the Met Gala. I would love to see Chloe step onto the red carpet next Monday wearing a gown version of this mulberry Prabal Gurung Fall 2017 RTW ensemble which features a pleated short sleeve v-neck blouse and tiered pleated a-line midi skirt. I believe that if Prabal turned this into a gown with a full length skirt and a dramatic train for Chloe that this would be one of her best looks ever. The dark romanticism of this look is perfect for this years theme, but still staying true to the Prabal woman. A loose romantic updo, lined eye, nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of simple black sandals would ensure that this look is the gorgeous romantic statement that I know it can be. Since wining her Academy Award in Givenchy Haute Couture we have not seen Emma Stone out at all. I think that will change come the Met Gala next Monday. At her first Met Gala in 2008 Emma wore a colorful mini dress by Matthew Williamson and things only went up from there. It wasn’t until 2011 that Emma returned to the Met wearing a rose printed Lanvin following that with Lanvin again with a red mini dress in 2012. Her other two looks were a gorgeous pink Thakoon ensemble in 2015 and a very slinky and glamorous Prada gown in 2016. With such a mix of labels I think that Emma could bring another of her favorite labels to the Met Gala red carpet. I would love to see Emma hit the Met Gala as a guest of Chanel. After she wore the label several times during awards season I think that the case for her wearing Chanel for the Met Gala is very good. I wanted to see Emma be a golden girl wearing this Chanel Pre-Fall 2017 tea length gown which features a plunging neckline, beaded bodice, and a tiered feather skirt all through awards season and it is seeming like the last chance that I have to see it on a red carpet before Karl & Co. jump on jets back to Paris for the Chanel Cruise 2018 show on May 3, 2017. I think that this gown is very Emma and I know that she would more than do it justice and would be a gorgeous moment on the Met steps. The dress doesn’t have a dramatic train or lots of volume, but it would be Emma’s presence that really makes this a major red carpet moment. Adding a simple pair of gold sandals, Veronica Lake waves, lined eye, and a red lip would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.Jourdan Dunn attended her first Met Gala back in 2014 and has attended every year since. Each year the gorgeous supermodel just seems to get better and better with her her red carpet looks. From her yellow Topshop gown in 2014 to her dark red macrame Burberry in 2015 and her robotic Balmain last year each look was gorgeous and fit perfectly with the theme of that years gala. With this years theme of Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo I would bet that Jourdan will deliver something dark and edgy to fit in with the theme. I think that this black velvet draped Saint Laurent Fall2017 RTW gown which features a one shoulder neckline, a very high daring split, and a brown leather ruffle on the shoulder would be a truly perfect interpretation of the theme for Jourdan to rock on the red carpet. This Saint Laurent collection is one of my absolute favorite collections in a really long time and I think that Jourdan is one of the perfect people to really make this look come to life on the red carpet. With the competing black velvet and brown leather of this gown I think that this will have to be some really sleek styling to make it work on the red carpet. Adding a sleek high ponytail, smokey eye, dewy makeup, black clutch, and a pair of simple black sandals would really make this a major red carpet moment. Kiernan Shipka has become a major fashion star for just being 17. I will say that I am really surprised that she has never been invited to a Met Gala before with her links to major labels like Dior, Gucci, Zac Posen, Chanel, Erdem, and Oscar de la Renta. I want to see Kiernan really deliver something avant garde and major when the day comes that she finally does get an invite to walk the Met steps. As I have said for the past few years I hope that this is finally the year the Kiernan gets to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala. If she does I would love to see Kiernan go with one of the more avant garde labels which is why I would love to see her rock the Met steps wearing a gown version of this multicolored 3-D floral embellished Christopher Kane Fall 2017 RTW black column gown. I don’t see many stars taking on competing with the bold flowers, but I know that Kiernan could pull it off with ease. Since the gown is so complicated simple styling would be best. A sleek bun, lined eye, pink lip, and black sandals will ensure that Kiernan wears this gown to perfection instead of letting it wear her. Solange will be the only Knowles attending this years Met Gala most likely after her mother announced that her sister Beyonce will not be attending this year. Solange is a frequent flyer of the Met Gala having attended wearing David LaPort, Giles, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Kenzo, and Rachel Roy in past years. Stephane Rolland has never had a celebrity moment on the Met Gala red carpet and I couldn’t think of a better person to give him his first Met Gala moment than one of his biggest devotee’s. Solange has worn several of Stephane Rolland’s designs on other red carpets in the pasts and I think that there would be no better year than this for her to give the label it’s first major Met Gala moment. This short white flame sculpted cocktail ensemble from the Stephane Rolland Spring 2017 Couture collection is perfect to compliment this years Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme without wearing a design from Comme itself. I think that the dramatic and sculptural nature of this dress is perfect for this years gala and it screams something that Solange would wear, making it a truly perfect match. Her signature afro (though maybe a little tighter than normal,) lined eye, red lip, and silver sandals would ensure that this is one of Solange’s best looks.I haven’t heard yet if Taylor Swift is going to attend this years Met Gala, but given her history of attending six times in the past and the rumor that she is getting ready to release new music I have a pretty good feeling that she will be in attendance this year. In past years we have seen Taylor walk the red carpet wearing labels like Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Badgley Mischka, and J. Mendel (twice) so I wonder what this year would bring. Last year Taylor tried way to hard to be edgy and shed her flirty country girl image. It didn’t work. I would love to see that flirty yet sexy side of Taylor on the Met Gala red carpet with this gorgeous fully embellished rose gold Atelier Versace Spring 2017 Couture asymmetrical chainmail column gown which features a daring split. Taylor has only worn Atelier Versace on the red carpet once, and I was incredibly underwhelmed. This look would be gorgeous on Taylor and perfectly mesh flirty feminine and sexy edge for Taylor. A pair of nude sandals, a romantic updo, lined eye, pink lip, and pink diamonds would all turn this into a gorgeous red carpet return for TSwizzle.

The 2017 Met Gala will take place on Monday May 1, 2017. I will be posting the red carpet looks in real time on my fashion ID Instagram account What They Are Wearing. Please follow along and join me!
