Just a little bit more than a week until this years Met Gala and with every passing day I get more and more excited about what the stars are going to bring to the red carpet. This specific set of wishes is for a bunch of established fashionistas who have attended past Met Gala’s and is bookended by rising stars. Claire Foy is riding the tails of her Golden Globe Award winning performance in the Netflix series The Crown around the fashion community has seemed to embrace her. Fort the Globes she wore custom Erdem and Valentino at the SAG Awards. Other labels that Claire has caught the eye of include Proenza Schouler and Burberry. Honestly any of these labels could have reached out to dress the rising Brit on the red carpet but I think it will be Erdem that she ultimately wears if invited to this years Met Gala. In the past Erdem has dressed Alexa Chung, Ruth Wilson, Juno Temple, Bee Schaffer, and Lena Dunham in the past and I think that Claire would be a perfect addition to that list. I would bet that the look will be a custom look inspired by the the labels Fall 2017 RTW collection, as is the labels tradition in dressing stars for the Met Gala red carpet. I adore the Erdem Fall 2017 RTW collection and this dusty lilac lace gown with bell sleeves, black floral embroidery, and a dusty rose velvet criss-cross ribbon on the neckline and I cannot wait to see who will wear it on the red carpet. I think that for her first Met Gala red carpet that this would be the perfect flirty and feminine red carpet moment for Claire. Finishing the look with a romantic updo, kohl rimmed eye, dainty vintage diamond drop earrings, a matte light rose lip, and a pair of gold sandals would perfectly finish this look for Claire to rock on her first Met Gala red carpet. When I went on a search for Evan Rachel Wood’s past Met Gala looks I was really shocked to know the has only attended the event once back in 2011 when she waked the red carpet wearing a gorgeous purple Gucci Premiere gown. This year Evan has vowed that for every red carpet appearance that she makes that she will wear pants on the red carpet. She has done so this year by wearing a Marlene Dietrich inspired tuxedo at the Golden Globes and a blue velvet suit at the SAG Awards both custom made for her by Altuzarra. It is to be expected that if she gets an invitation (with her award nominated performance in Westworld I find it highly likely) that Evan will wear yet another pants look on the red carpet. My guess is that Evan would be one of Joseph Altuzarra’s guests, but I couldn’t find a pants look from the label worthy of the Met steps so I went on a search elsewhere. I think that this black Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2017 ensemble which features a point d’esprit evening coat with a train, high waisted crop pants, and a strapless bustier top has what it takes to be a really major moment for Evan. The look is glam, dark, romantic, and punk all at the same time which is the perfect recipe for a red carpet look for Evan. A strappy black sandals, 40’s inspired updo, winged eye, red lip, diamond and emerald cluster earrings, and an emerald Edie Parker clutch would make this look total perfection head to toe. Kate Bosworth has attended several Met Gala’s with such a varried styling of looks and labels. There has been short looks from Prada, Chanel, and Balmain and gowns from Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, and Stella McCartney among her past red carpet looks. It has been nine years since Kate has last worn Chanel for the Met Gala so I think that this could be the perfect time for her to wear the label again. In the past Kate has only repeated wearing Prada and Stella McCartney on the Met red carpet so I think that the case for repeating Chanel is good. Kate is one of the few that I would entrust with wearing this grey feathered Chanel Spring 2017 Couture tea length gown which features a full length skirt, belted waist, and plunging neckline and I do think that this look would be perfect on Kate on the steps of this years Met Gala. This gown is meant to evoke 50’s glamour so I would go full glam with a 50’s inspired updo, silver sandals, diamond cluster earrings, a winged eye, and a bold pink lip to really make this the magical red carpet moment that I know it can be. Lupita Nyong’o is almost always one of my favorite ladies to see on the red carpet, except when it comes to her Met Gala looks. I think that Lupita embraces the costume side of the Met Gala a little too much and her Prada and Calvin Klein looks are perfect examples of that. The Met Gala is the Costume Institute benefit and wearing over the top designs is expected, but we still want to see high fashion and glamour over all out costumes on the red carpet. I hope that if invited to walk the red carpet this year that Lupita finally gives us something absolutely amazing. I would love to see her give us non costume flapper realness wearing this flamingo pink Prada Fall 2017 RTW cocktail dress which features both beaded and feather embellishments. This dress was one of my favorite looks from the fall collections and I really do think that Lupita would more than do it justice and it would be perfection on the Met Gala red carpet. I think that with a pair of gold sandals, a short finger wave hairstyle, smokey eye, nude lip, gold clutch, and a pair of dainty diamond drop earrings that this will be one of Lupita’s best Prada ensembles. Naomi Campbell has been having a good year on the red carpet so far and I can honestly I am really excited to see what she is going to bring to the red carpet at this years Met Gala. The past of Naomi’s Met Gala looks include a bevy of her favorite labels including Roberto Cavalli, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Givenchy. Honestly the only look from that bunch that I favored was the Cavalli she wore last year and I hope that if she steps out this year that Naomi continues to wow. I was actually surprised when I looked up Naomi wearing Haider Ackermann and I learned that she has never worn the brand before. I feel like the Ackermann aesthetic is something that Naomi would be drawn to, but I guess that she’s never been drawn before. That makes this black long sleeve Haider Ackermann Fall 2017 RTW embroidered round shoulder gown which features a asymmetrical hemline and gold brushstroke inspired detail less likely than I would like, but I would believe that this gown would be gorgeous on Naomi. Most of the time Naomi likes to show a lot of skin (in creative ways sometimes) so this extremely covered look is out of that box. I think that this gown would vibe well with this years Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme. With pin straight locks, a pair of black pumps, gold drop earrings, a smokey eye, and a dark red lip this would be an absolutely perfect look for Naomi to continue her stellar red carpet run. Rounding out today’s wishes is the gorgeous Ruby Rose. It was earlier this year with the promo tour for xXx: Return of Xander Cage where Ruby delivered a killer promo tour. With looks from Monse, Julien MacDonald, Vionnet, Zuhair Murad, and Balmain since the beginning of the year Ruby has really showed her fashion chops. I have to say that her edgy approach to dressing can go left and be something that goes into too far, but most of the time I am in love with her red carpet looks. I think that with her rising fashion star that it bodes really well for Ruby receiving an invitation from Anna Wintour to attend her first Met Gala this year. If she does attend I would imagine that she will be a guest of Balmain who crafted some of her most successful looks this year. This black and silver glam rock inspired long sleeve fully embellished over the top mini dress from the Balmain Fall 2017 RTW collection screams Ruby to me and I can totally see her rocking it for the Met Gala. Most years I would say that this look isn’t right for the Met carpet, but with the Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme that it will be a really great red carpet moment for Ruby. I would keep the runways boots adding a smokey eye and a red lip to really make this the perfect glam rock red carpet look that it is.
