2017 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 15

This years Met Gala is rapidly approaching and we are just sing digit days until the stars of fashion, film, television, politics, business, and fashion all will converge on the Metropolitan Museum of Art to celebrate Comme des Garçons and its creative director Rei Kawakubo. Christina Ricci is one that always goes full force when it comes to theme on the red carpet. In 2008 she channeled her inner superhero wearing Givenchy Couture, honored Alexander McQueen wearing Zac Posen in 2011, celebrated the Prada and Schiaparelli in 2012 wearing Thakoon, and 2013 Christina embraced her inner punk in Vivienne Westwood. I would wonder what she would step out on the Met Gala red carpet wearing with the this years theme. I went through a million looks to try and figure it out. I would guess that  if Christina is a guest she would wear something custom, I would love something custom from Viktor & Rolf. I do think that Christina would look gorgeous if she went to Cushnie et Ochs and had them turn this white spaghetti strap sequin ruffle pencil dress which features a flounced sequin embellished panel and sheath silhouette into a gown with a dramatic sequined train for the Met Gala red carpet. I think that if they extended the ruffled from the back with a train and lengthened the hem that this would be a true definition of modern glamour. A 40’s inspired updo, winged eye, red lip, diamond drop earrings, and silver sandals would finish this look to total perfection.Emma Watson has had a killer year on the red carpet so far this year and I am really hoping that she will be invited to this years Met Gala. I can honestly say that looking back on her past Met Gala looks there wasn’t one that I remembered with good feelings. Her Calvin Klein look from last year was terrible, her Prabal Gurung look in 2013 was forgettable, and her best look was Burberry in 2010. I am hoping that her run of sustainable fashion continues to deliver great looks for her to walk the Met Gala red carpet. One label that Emma has turned to a lot this year has been Oscar de la Renta under the helm of new creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. I would make a bet that if Emma will step out on the red carpet with the designers and I am really intrigued to see what it will be. I bet that whatever it will be will be a custom look but of the runway look that I would love to see her wear is this gorgeous black Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 RTW tea length gown which features a fitted bodice, a full skirt, and multicolored floral tendril embellishment throughout. This gown is flirty and feminine and something that I really think would be gorgeous on Emma. We have seen her in more edgy versions of femininity recently so this pure elegant and glamorous gown would be a perfect departure for Emma. I would bet that Emma will wear her black satin Burberry pointed toe pumps adding a romantic updo, pink lip, lined eye, and diamond cluster earrings to really ensure that this is another major moment for Emma. Kate Beckinsale has attended past Met Gala’s wearing DVF, J. Mendel, and Marchesa. I have to say that the only looked that I remembered what that gorgeous Marchesa confection. When it comes to her style I can get very fatigued by Kate’s red carpet options. It is either a strapless column gown or a mermaid gown, and that is really it. Her Zuhair Murad gown at this years Vanity Fair party was a night change of pace with the addition of the voluminous tulle sleeves. If she gets and invitation to this years Met Gala I would love to see Kate really deliver something absolutely glamorous. This silver embellished Francesco Scognamiglio Spring 2017 Couture column gown which features a dramatic asymmetrical strapless neckline is what I would put Kate in. I think that this gown is totally in Kate’s wheelhouse but in a super elevated manner. This gown is like a diamond and I think that the Met Gala would be the perfect place for it to be worn. A sleek updo, kohl rimmed eye, red lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of silver stiletto sandals would really turn this into an absolutely beautiful moment for Kate. Kristen Stewart has attended the Met Gala several times in the past. She has attended with Chanel three times in the past. The first time was in 2010, then again in 2014, and last year. Other years she has worn Balenciaga, Stella McCartney, and Proenza Schouler. Of all of those honestly there is only one that I like and it was the red Proenza Schouler gown. That was just edgy and glam and fit her perfectly. It was also the only look that Kristen actually looked comfortable wearing. I went with a wish that I think Kristen would be comfortable wearing for this years red carpet skipping out on her Chanel ambassadorship in favor of this black leather Brandon Maxwell Fall 2017 RTW ensemble which features a layered collar long sleeve top and a petal mini skirt. Brandon has been dressing everyone recently and I think that this mini skirted leather look would be totally up Kristen’s ally. I think that this look is strong and sexy and that Kristen would just exude confidence on the red carpet. With her bleach blonde shaved hair, a lined eye, red lip, diamond earcuff, and a pair of stiletto booties this would be one of Kristen’s best looks ever. For the last two years Miranda Kerr has worn Louis Vuitton on the red carpet at the Met Gala. I really hated her look in 2016 and her 2015 look was just very forgettable. Her other Met looks have included a barely there black Michael Kors gown which likened to the black fringe Jil Sander gown she had worn several years before and a white ballerina meets Marie Antoinette Marchesa dress. None of Miranda’s past Met Gala looks have been memorable, at least not in a good way, so I am hoping that she will deliver some major moment. That seems like a pipe dream at giving her history. I think that Miranda would be gorgeous wearing this black David Koma Fall 2017 RTW blue embellished cutout flounce dress which features a front slit and ruffled hem as it is, but I really want to see it turned into a gown with a dramatic train. There are several moments from Miranda and David Koma that I have loved and i think that she would be the perfect person to bring the designer his first major Met Gala red carpet moment. This dress is modern and glamorous and I think it would fit in perfectly on the Met Gala red carpet this season. I have wondered if her pregnancy will stop Rosie Huntington-Whiteley from attending this years Met Gala. The gorgeous British supermodel has attended several years wearing so many gorgeous looks. She was a guest of Burberry in 2010, 2011, and 2012 with looks from Gucci, Balmain, Atelier Versace, and Ralph Lauren. Each look was amazing and one of the best each of those years and I be that she is invited back this year. After two really stellar maternity gowns from Atelier Versace and Brandon Maxwell I decided that I did want to put Rosie on my wishes for this years gala. I went back to Christopher Bailey and Burberry since Rosie has had such success with the label in the past and it has been a while since she has worn the label to the Met Gala. This last season Christopher Bailey ended hist Burberry Spring 2017 RTW show with all 73 models each wearing a different couture cape over their ready-to-wear that is where this pearl and bead embellished cape with its strong shoulders high neck and fringe came from. This cape is a piece of artwork all on it’s own so I would love to see it be the centerpiece of this look having Rosie pair it with a custom silver Burberry gown to really just make her sparkle up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A sleek updo, smokey eye, red lip, and a pair of silver sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this moment for Rosie.
