The Met Gala is approaching and I have fantasies playing out in my head nightly about who will be invited this year and what they are going to wear. The Met Gala is kind of like the international fashion prom and I can’t wait to see what the stars are going to bring. I was shocked when I did a search of past Met Gala red carpet that Celine Dion has never been a guest. Since her reemergence on the scene last year thanks to new stylist Law Roach I think that this is finally the year that Celine walks the red carpet at the Met Gala, I mean she can definitely afford to shell out the $30,000 donation to the museum for a seat. I went with this dark and romantic sequined black column gown from the Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2016 Couture collection which features a silver and magenta embroidered leaf peplum neckline for Celine to rock for her first Met Gala red carpet because I think it is the perfect interpretation of this years Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme to match Celine’s dramatic and glamorous style. This isn’t the gown with a dramatic train that we are used to seeing on the Met Gala red carpet, but I think that Celine’s diva presence would really make this look rival some of those grand over the top couture creations. Styling the look with a sleek updo, smokey eye, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of black satin sandals would really just add the perfect enhancements to this look to ensure that this is a truly major moment for Celine.Emily Ratajkowski has been a Met Gala guest for the last two years (pretty much since her style star came onto the radar of the world,) and I would think it is a pretty safe bet that she will be invited again this year. Her past Met Gala looks include an uber sexy satin Prabal Gurung barely there gown in 2016 and a long sleeve cheongsam inspired Topshop midi dress in 2015. There are so many ways that Emily could go with her look this year, and I am really interested to seeing what she will bring to this years red carpet. Having stat front row at several of Joseph Altuzarra’s fashion hows and having worn the label a few times on the red carpet before to much avail so I think that he would be the perfect person to create an amazing moment for Emily to rock up the steps this year. I decided to start with this gorgeous violet velvet Altuzarra Fall2017 RTW as the base for my wish for Emily. I think that the 20’s inspired dress is absolutely gorgeous and that if lengthened into a full length gown with a sweeping train that Emily would have an absolutely beautiful look on her hands. EmRata just oozes sex appeal without trying so going for a really sexy look for her can come across as just trashy. This look has subtly sex appeal, but Emily would just bring her elegance to the red carpet. I would go for very romantic with the styling adding a loose updo, a smokey eye, gold sandals, and dainty diamond drop earrings to really make this a winning red carpet moment. In the Jessica Biel has pretty much always been on of my favorites on the red carpet when she is invited to walk the steps at the Met Gala. From the red Atelier Versace in 2009, to her custom Prada in 2012 and her Giambattista Valli Couture in 2013 these looks are among some of Jessica’s best red carpet looks ever. The only look that Jessica has worn to a Met Gala that I wasn’t a fan of was the Ralph Lauren gown she wore in 2010. Since it has been a while since Jessica walked those famous steps I thought that it would be great to see her step out again this year. Usually when I make my wishes for the red carpet I look at people’s history to pick the looks that I do. This year I didn’t I compiled a folder of pictures of looks that I could see on the Met Gala red carpet and then picked looks based on my whim. Jessica has never worn an Armani on a red carpet but as I have said several times in recent wishes what better time to embrace the brand for the first time than on the Met Gala red carpet. I am trusting Jessica with one of my favorite spring couture gowns with this orange creamsicle Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture sequined one shoulder gown which features a pleated and printed asymmetrical bodice to wear. There are just a few people that I want to see bring this gown to life on the red carpet, and Jessica was not initially on that list. When I picked it for her to wear I did so with a little bit of hesitation, but I do think that Jessica would wear it with ease. It has been many years since Mandy Moore has been invited to a Met Gala. The last time Mandy walked the the Met Steps was back in 2004, before Anna covered the steps with a red carpet, where she wore a beautiful Marc Jacobs gown. Mandy has been everywhere this year with the success of her show This Is Us and I would bet that she will get an invite to this years gala. So far this year we have seen Mandy rock the red carpet in Jenny Packham, Naeem Khan, Lela Rose, Marc Jacobs, DVF, and more and was all over the front rows at New York Fashion Week. We saw Mandy at Marc Jacobs, Marc Jacobs, Alice + Olivia, Naeem Khan, and Lela Rose. Honestly she could wear any of them (though my money would be on Marc.) I didn’t see any runway looks for Mandy from any of those runways so I went somewhere else. I think that this garnet and black ombre Pamella Roland Fall 2017 RTW ombre gown which features an ostrich feathered hem would be a perfect look for the Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme. Pamella Roland isn’t usually a label that one thinks about for the Met Gala. but I do think that this gown with it’s feathered train would fit in perfectly. One oft he questions on the minds of everyone in fashion is who will create the designs for Givenchy. Will they be stuff created by Riccardo Tisci before he left, or will new creative director Clare Waight Keller debut her aesthetic for the label at this years Met Gala. Riccardo’s designs for Givenchy have gone down in Met Gala history, so we I am wondering if some of his devotees will milk his last collections for what they are worth. Riley Keough has never worn Givenchy before, but is one of the few that I can picture wearing the labels Spring 2017 Couture collection on the red carpet. I think that this blue and white plaid dress from that collection which merges Dorothy Gale iconography with the over the top detailing of Victoriana to create a look that I really adore. I think that Riley would be absolutely gorgeous wearing this creation on the red carpet. I think it would take a confident person who holds a more laid back and relaxed approach to glamour to really pull this look off on the red carpet, and Riley is exactly that. On the runway Riccardo paired the midi gown with matching tights and booties. I would shun those adding a simple pair of navy sandals, a sleek bun, winged eyeliner, and a red lip to really make this the impactful look I absolutely know that it can be.Zoe Kravitz has been on the Met Gala red carpet the past 3 years wearing Topshop in 2014, Alexander Wang in 2015, and Valentino Couture last year. I would imagine that coming off the heels of her very successful and highly buzzed about HBO miniseries Big Little Lies that Anna Wintour will once again extend an invitation to Zoe. I flipped flopped a lot when it came to picking the perfect look for Zoe to wear on the red carpet this year. I knew I wanted to go with a little more of an underdog designer because I know Zoe could be one to show up in one of the looks from those designers we don’t often see on big red carpets. I was trying to pick the perfect look to compliment Zoe’s glam rock yet bohemian approach to dressing and I changed my mind several times. It was yesterday when I picked this black 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2017 RTW midi gown which features an asymmetrical neckline and hemline as well as mirrored embellishment at the neck and chain embellishment on the hem that I knew I had finally found the perfect look. This dress perfectly embodies that bohemian glam rock spirit that Zoe just oozes on the red carpet. I think that complimenting this look with her bleach blonde braids styled into large high bun adding a winged eye, red lip, diamond earcuffs, and a pair of black sandals would really make this a perfect Met Gala moment.
