2017 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 7

Can you believe that I am not even half way through my wishes for this year Met Gala? Does anyone else besides myself think that I am crazy for making as many wishes that I am this year? Before any of today’s wishes we have already seen 36 of my 108 wishes, which is actually only 1/3 of my total wishes. For this being a year where I really hate the theme I am going all out. Amy Adams had a bumpy awards season which ended up with her being snubbed by the Academy Awards. That was one of the biggest shocks of the year so far. After staring in Tom Ford’s film Nocturnal Animals and basically almost exclusively wearing the label for almost a year now many are making the guess that Amy will be the designers guest for this years Met Gala, but not me. I am honestly over Amy in Tom Ford and am ready for a little more variety. I would love to see Amy take the Met Gala red carpet wearing this teal v-neck Carolina Herrera Fall 2017 RTW silk lace gown which gown features a plunging v-neckline, a sleeveless silhouette, and a pleated full length skirt. The color against Amy’s red hair and peachy skin would be a true vision. I looked at some of Amy’s past red carpet looks where she was wearing dresses in a similar hue and they were truly magical, so I know that this would be another for her to add to her repertoire. The Met steps support gowns with very dramatic trains and I would love to see Amy have this gown modified so that it had a dramatic train trailing behind it. Finish this magical moment with old Hollywood waves, a lined eye, red lip, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of dyed to match peep toe pumps and Amy will surely be on the top of best dressed lists.  Elizabeth Banks is always one of my favorites on the red carpet, yet she has never made it on the best dressed list for a Met Gala that she has been a guest at. Having worn Michael Kors, Atelier Versace, Mary Katrantzou, and Gucci for past years Lizzy has run a full gambit on styles and yet has not been on top. I would love to see that change this year and I think that this blush and red Marchesa Fall 2017 RTW gown features a one shoulder neckline with a contrasting bow detail, a ruffled back, and cascading floral beaded embroidery at the bodice would put her on top for sure. While the gown has nothing to do with the Comme des Garçons/Rei Kawakubo theme it is pure dramatic glamour, which I still think pays homage to Rei’s aesthetic but in a way that stays very true to the Marchesa woman. I know that Elizabeth would own this gown with all the presence that she has. Styling the look with a sleek romantic updo, red sandals, a red clutch, lined eye, light pink lip, and a pair of simple diamond cluster earrings would really ensure that this is a truly gorgeous moment for Elizabeth. Hailey Baldwin has been an “it girl” for about three years now and has attended the Met Gala for the last two (and the fake one for the upcoming Oceans Eight film,) so it would not be a surprise if she is a guest again this year. For her first Met in 2015 Hailey wore a custom Topshop cocktail dress and last year she wore a custom Tommy Hilfiger gown (she also wore Tommy Hilfiger for the Oceans Eight Met) and I am intrigued to see what she will wear this year. Something about an Instagram post that Hailey’s stylist posted makes me think that she may wear that blue Tommy Hilfiger gown that she wore for filming for this years Met Gala, and honestly I wouldn’t complain. The gown was gorgeous and really deserves a red carpet moment, but I also think that might be highly unlikely. I did stick with the more glamorous look for Hailey to wear this year with this white Blumarine Fall 2017 RTW gown which features a beaded bodice with a draped plunging neckline, three quarter length sleeves, and double slits. This gown screams old Hollywood femme fatale screen siren, but in a very modern and sexy way, which is why I think that it would make a truly perfect Met Gala gown for Hailey. A strappy sandal, sleek high bun, smokey eye, dazzling diamond earrings, and a red lip would make this that truly glamorous moment I am craving from Hailey. Lea Michele has the potential to really give me some of the most gorgeous red carpet looks, but recently she has not been living up to her potential lately. I hope that she give us something that is truly show stopping moment. I totally think that this navy J. Mendel Fall 2017 RTW a-line gown which features a tulip embroidered bust and sweetheart neckline would just sweep the Met steps in just a dramatic and glamorous manner. Lea has worn J. Mendel a few times in the past, but usually opts for the brands flirty cocktail looks and I think that it is time that she moves on to wearing one of the gorgeous gown from the labels newest collection. This dramatic and glamorous gown is perfect for the Met Gala and I do think that Lea’s diva attitude would just turn this look into something totally fabulous. A chic updo, heavy lined eye, red lip, diamond cluster earrings, a dazzling diamond bracelet, and a pair of simple navy satin sandals would just add the perfect enhancements to this look. Poppy Delevinge is a little more of an occasional Met Gala guest and the designer of of her looks has not been as varried. Both last year and in 2015 Poppy wore off the runway Marchesa looks and in 2012 she wore an off the rack Chanel gown. Poppy has worn Alessandra Rich in the past a few times but none recently that I could find and the label has never actually had a Met Gala moment but I think that this year would be the perfect time for the British socialite and model to wear the label up the famous Met steps. I think that this black and cream Alessandra Rich Fall 2017 RTW long sleeve gown which has simulated tiers, bow details, a plunging neckline, and a puffy sleeve would be absolute perfection for Poppy. The gown is flirty and feminine with a dramatic edge and I know that Poppy would add her cool girl glam to the red carpet in this creation. Sophie Turner attended her first Met Gala back in 2015 as a guest of Burberry and hasn’t been back since. I would imagine that if the Game of Thrones star is in attendance she would be a guest of Louis Vuitton as she has been a lover of all things LV for about a year now. I have been blah about Sophie as an LV ambassador, so I decided to shun the label and go with this gorgeous raspberry red Valentino Pre-Fall 2017 sequined gown which features an almost square neckline with a subtle sweetheart neckline and a flowing skirt. I cannot believe that the SAG Awards, Grammy Awards, BAFTA Awards, and the Academy Awards all went by without anyone snatching this creation up, I doubt it will make it through either the Met Gala or Cannes Film Festival without getting worn. I do think that Sophie would be gorgeous wearing this gown. Going this simple, yet sparkling route would be truly chic moment for Sophie. A chic updo, lined eye, red lip, and red satin sandals would really ensure that Sophie is truly magical on the Met Gala red carpet.

The 2017 Met Gala will take place on Monday May 1, 2017. I will be posting the red carpet looks in real time on my fashion ID Instagram account What They Are Wearing. Please follow along and join me!
