2017 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

As I said earlier we are now delving deep into my wishes for all the stars of stage, screen, music, and fashion to wear for the 2017 Met Gala which will take place on the first Monday in May, which this year is May 1, 2017. Every year Anna Wintour invites the who’s who of everyone from every industry and I am really intrigued to see what all the stars are going to wear with this years theme of “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons.” Models are always in abundance at the Met Gala and Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima is usually in attendance at the Met so I can only imagine that she will on the red carpet this year. Adriana is very up and down when it comes to me liking her style on the red carpet and I hope that if she steps out for the Met Gala that she delivers a gorgeous red carpet moment. I went for sleek glamour with this black one shoulder Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture with a single cap sleeve for Adriana. The gown is is very modern interpretation of classic glamour and I know that Adriana would surely be perfection wearing it. A sleek updo, smokey eye, red lip, diamond drop earrings, a black clutch, and black sandals all would endure that this look is amazing. It was last year at the Met Gala that I first took notice of Cynthia Erivo who wore a custom gown by Coach and then subsequently had a great year. That same magic that she had last year has not seemed to follow her this year. A change in stylists is what I blame on that. Looks that are too grand and overwhelming on Cynthia have been what she has worn so far this year, but I am hoping that if she gets an invite to this years Met Gala that she will step onto the red carpet in high style. I think that this gorgeous silver and garnet Monique Lhuillier Fall 2017 RTW one shoulder gown which features a black velvet slashed sleeve, a bold geometric print, and an a-line skirt would be perfect on Cynthia. The gown is a nod to the 80’s, but in a way that reads very modern and now. Some of the things that I haven’t liked about Cynthia’s looks this year has been her hair. I would love to see Cynthia rock a bleached blonde shaved head with this gown. Finishing with a pair of silver sandals, diamond cluster earrings, matching lip, and a smokey eye would make this a truly perfect red carpet look for Cynthia. Freida Pinto used to be a favorite of mine, but this year so far she has pretty much failed to get me excited. I am hoping that if she makes a major return to the red carpet at the Met Gala this year. Freida has attended past gala’s wearing Chanel and Tory Burch and has looked gorgeous. I went to the Miu Miu Fall 2017 RTW collection and this blush and raspberry pink striped mini dress which features a crystal embellished halter neckline and a pleated hemline for the inspiration for the look for Freida to wear for this year. I would like to see Muccia Prada turn this mini dress into a full length gown with a sweeping train for Freida. When I first saw this dress on the runway I immediately thought of how gorgeous it would be as a gown and I do think that Freida would be the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the red carpet. Finishing this look with a sleek updo, lined eye, punchy pink lip, and a pair of blush pink satin Miu Miu peep toe sandals with a crystal heel would put Freida back on the best dressed list. Over the course of my wishes for the 2017 Met Gala wishes you are going to see me making a lot of wishes based on modified runway looks for stars to wear on the red carpet. Kate Hudson is one of those that I am making modification wishes to wear for the Met. Michael Kors, Atelier Versace, and Stella McCartney are all labels that Kate has worn on past Met Gala red carpets but I went with a label that we rarely see on the red carpet. I went with the cool girl label Proenza Schouler for Kate to wear this year this desert peach and black bandage knit asymmetrical dress features a contrast cutout detailing and fluted silhouette from the labels Fall 2017 RTW collection, but dropped to a full length gown. Proenza dresses the coolest girls for the Met having dressed Kristen Stewart, Chloe Sevingy, Imogen Poots, Brie Larson, and Felicity Jones for past galas and I think that Kate would be the perfect addition to that list. This dress is modern and elegant and while Kate has never worn Proenza before, what better place to make a debut that at the Met Gala? Naomie Harris went for a true fashion statement when she wore a custom white sequined Calvin Klein cocktail dress with a train for the Academy Awards earlier this year. That was the first red carpet look that we have seen from the new Calvin Klein creative director Raf Simons and it was incredibly polarizing. While I wasn’t a fan of it in the moment it definitely grew on me. I love a good risk and a risk it was. I decided to go back to Raf and Calvin Klein for the look I want to see Naomie take to the red carpet at the Met Gala. Naomie has been a guest of Anna Wintour’s twice now first in 2013 wearing Donna Karan Atelier and again last year wearing custom Burberry. Both were bold dramatic gowns and I would imagine that Naomie would wear a full length gown again this year. I would love to see Naomie work with Raf on creating a custom gown version of this yellow and white feathered Calvin Klein Fall 2017 RTW sleeveless shift dress. I love this collection and these feathers are the looks that I most want to see on the red carpet and I definitely think that Naomie has the gravitas on the red carpet to really make it work. Since they are already in her closet I would have Naomie style this look with the crystal embellished yellow Calvin Klein sandals she wore to the Academy Awards with a sleek updo, smokey eye, yellow clutch, nude lip, and diamond cluster earrings to really ensure that this is a truly major moment for Naomie. Sarah Paulson has only been to the Met Gala once back in 2014 when she was a guest of Prada at the Punk gala. After the amazing year that Sarah has had so far, winning every single award possible for her role in The People vs. O..J. Simpson, that it is pretty much a sure bet that she will be on the red carpet at the Met this year. I would imagine that Sarah will once again wear a custom Prada ensemble if she gets an invitation to attend this year. I couldn’t pick a runway look from Prada to modify for Sarah so I went on a search for a gorgeous gown for her to wear from the runway. I adore this black Sally LaPointe Pre-Fall 2017 gown which features a plunging neckline, fringe hem, and allover gold plume embroidery in a column silhouette and I really do think that it would be gorgeous on Sarah. The gown is glam yet edgy and that it exactly what Sarah usually exudes on the red carpet. Vintage inspired finger waves, a smokey eye, red lip, gold clutch, and a pair of strappy black sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Sarah to rock on the Met Gala red carpet.

The 2017 Met Gala will take place on Monday May 1, 2017. I will be posting the red carpet looks in real time on my fashion ID Instagram account What They Are Wearing. Please follow along and join me!
