It has come as absolutely no shock to me that Michelle Williams has exclusively worn Louis Vuitton on the red carpet this award season. I am so over seeing Michelle wear a custom look from Vuitton for every red carpet, but I am not expecting to see anything else from her on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night. I was looking through the runway collections, again, and I am really fatigued with all the styles that have been used from the Resort and Spring 2017 collections. I would love to see Michelle’s Oscar gown take inspiration from the yet to be presented Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2017 collection. If she does take to the red carpet wearing another look inspired by the Spring 2017 RTW collection I guess I would go with this black sheer stripe and plaid embroidered dress which features abstract modesty panels and a gathered skirt that I would love to see Michelle have lengthened to full length and have a bit of a dramatic train. The thing that has been pretty much knowing that this gown would never happen is the fact that Michelle wore one of the runway gowns with similar details for the Academy Governors Awards which kicked off awards season back in November. I honestly just don’t know what to pick, I am bored. Naomie Harris is in total contrast to Michelle. I am really excited to see what the gorgeous British actress is going to show up on the Oscars red carpet wearing on Sunday. Naomie could literally show up wearing anything. Her reach with designers is incredibly far and she really could show up wearing any of the top labels. Naomie Harris has never worn Ralph & Russo on the red carpet and I think it would be an incredible honor to a designer from London to dress Naomie for the Oscar red carpet. I thought about picking something from Alexander McQueen or Stella McCartney, but then I saw this white fully embellished Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture gown which features a structured buster and a fitted column silhouette it immediately screamed Naomie to me. I think that this gown would be an incredibly chic and modern moment for Naomie to bring to the red carpet. While the silhouette is very simple, and Naomie could go for a bold look with a dramatic train, I still think that this look could be incredibly impactful. The Elie Saab gown that I picked for Naomie to change into for the Vanity Fair party is more of a princess moment, so that we get both sides of her style on Oscar night. Styling this Ralph & Russo gown with a white pearlescent Elie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch, a pair of metallic leather silver sandals, statement diamond and sapphire cluster earrings, a sleek low bun, and a bold red lip would really ensure that this is a really major moment for Naomie on the Academy Awards red carpet. Nicole Kidman joined Best Actress nominee Isabelle Huppert sitting front row at the Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture collection presentation during Paris Couture Fashion Week last month on the day that the Oscar nominations were released. I am a little more skeptical that Nicole will wear Armani for the Oscars now that she has worn the label for the BAFTA Awards earlier this month. I would love to see Nicole wear the label again on Sunday though with this peachy, creamsicle color Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture halter gown which features a draped bodice, column skirt, and gorgeous Indian inspired beading. I think that the soft orange color of this gown would look gorgeous against Nicole’s alabaster skin tone making for what could be a truly major red carpet moment. The dress might be simple, but I think that it could be her best Oscars look since that iconic red Balenciaga she wore in 2007. Adding an elegant updo, lined eye, light pink lip, gold set diamond cluster earrings, a pair of gold pumps, and a gold Van Cleef & Arpels diamond tassel bracelet would really make sure that this is a gorgeous classic look for Nicole for the Oscars. See which modern Antonio Berardi moment I want Nicole to change into for the Vanity Fair party to give total contrast to this look.Octavia Spencer experimented with new labels this awards season, but it was her looks from her trusted go to label Tadashi Shoji that ranked among the best of her run to the Oscars so far this year. For the Academy Awards on Sunday night I want to see Octavia go for bold color on the red carpet. Most of the time Octavia wears black or light pastel colors and I think that she would look gorgeous in some jewel tones. I picked this sapphire blue Tadashi Shoji Fall 2017 RTW velvet long sleeve dress which features lace paneling on the bodice for Octavia to wear because of the color. On the same runway this dress was also presented as a silver velvet gown, but I wanted to put the blue up because I know that she can really make this color work. I love the column silhouette of the silver gown so i would keep that instead of opting for an a-line style. Keeping this look all about the bold color of the gown I would have Octavia style her hair into a chic updo adding a red lip, black clutch, a pair of black sandals, and dainty diamond drop earrings to really make this a gorgeous moment. Viola Davis is the front runner to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress on Sunday night for her performance in Fences. This awards season Viola has been all about color on the red carpet so I am really hoping that on Sunday night that Viola really brings a bold color to the red carpet. I could definitely see Viola wearing this aqua Marchesa Pre-Fall 2017 gown which features an off the shoulder style neckline, allover beaded bodice, and cascading ruffle full length skirt. This gown is glamorous and bold and I know that Viola would look extremely regal and elegant wearing this confection on the red carpet. The gown would have to be modified to ensure that the nude lining on the bodice matches Viola’s skin tone, because nothing ruins a great illusion look than the wrong color netting. Adding a sleek updo, silver metallic pumps, dainty diamond earrings, and a silver clutch to this look for the red carpet would be perfection. The only other accessory that Viola will need is that little gold man.
I will be live tweeting the 2017 Academy Awards red carpet, show, and after parties. All night starting at 5PM on Sunday, please join me.
