2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 2

greta-gerwig-2017-independent-spirit-awards-red-carpet-wish-list-1The Film Independent Spirit Awards take place the night before the Academy Awards and while this is a more casual red carpet the stars usually bring it. Greta Gerwig had roles in the Best Picture nominated film Jackie and in 20th Century Women which has a few nominations itself. Greta is very hit of miss when it comes to her red carpet styling and I am hoping that when it comes to the Spirit Awards red carpet that Greta brings a gorgeous look. I think that this powder blue Diane Von Furstenberg Spring 2017 RTW asymmetric lattice lace wrap dress features a deep V-neckline, asymmetric ruffle wrap detail, and a semi sheer midi length silhouette would be a perfect moment for Greta for the Spirit Awards. The dress has that elevated relaxed elegance that we expect to see on the red carpet at the Spirit Awards and while when written the details might sound overwhelming I think that Greta would work this dress with great aplomb. A sleek hairstyle, light pink lip, a gold clutch, and a pair of gold pumps would make this a gorgeous moment for Greta on the red carpet. isabelle-huppert-2017-independent-spirit-awards-red-carpet-wish-list-1If she makes it to all the red carpets that she holds nominations for Isabelle Huppert is going to be racking up her sky miles over that last week before the Oscars. This is one of 3 red carpet between Friday February 24 and Sunday thee 26th that Isabelle is expected to attend. Isabelle has been working with a new stylist since she premiered Elle at the Cannes Film Festival last year, which is the film that has earned her a Best Female Lead nomination at the Spirit Awards, and I am expecting her to deliver a look that just oozes French sophistication. The moment I saw this red Lanvin Pre-Fall 2017 take on the Le Smoking tuxedo Isabelle was the first person to pop to mind. Isabelle rocks a suit on the red carpet without looking like she is trying to hard to make a statement, it’s that effortless French glamour. Now while the patterned blouse that the suit was paired with in the lookbook is gorgeous I would much prefer Isabelle to wear this suit with a black silk pussy bow blouse as I think that is more her speed. Finishing the look with a red lip, elegant waves, diamond cluster earrings and a pair of black Christian Louboutin pumps would really make this a perfect look for Isabelle to deliver effortless elegance, and a bold statement, on the Spirit Awards red carpet.michelle-williams-2017-independent-spirit-awards-red-carpet-wish-list-1I’ve basically given up all hope that Michelle Williams is going to wear anything that I really will love seeing on the red carpet. All of her looks are Louis Vuitton and all are either worst dressed or not worthy of a comment either way. I usually try to make logical wishes when it comes to what I want stars to wear on the red carpet. I try to take their contracts into account, but I am just so fatigued with Louis Vuitton that I don’t think I will have another wish from the label for Michelle this awards season, though I would put my money on her wearing it for EVERY red carpet. If she were to shuck LV for the Spirit Awards red carpet, where she is nominated for Best Supporting Female for her performance in Manchester by the Sea, I would love to see Michelle wear color on the red carpet with this 40’s inspired emerald green Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2017 cap sleeve midi dress. The dress screams Michelle to me and I think that the color would just pop against her alabaster skin and platinum blonde hair. Rounding the look out with a pair of gold Louis Vuitton sandals, a gold Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ clutch, and a pink lip this would be one of Michelle’s best red carpet moments in a really long time, maybe ever. natalie-portman-2017-independent-spirit-awards-wish-list-1Natalie Portman will be almost ready to give birth by the time Oscar week end and the Spirit Awards come around. The Jackie star is nominated for Best Female Lead and is honestly my favorite to win the Spirit and Academy Award. Natalie’s maternity style has been up and down and I am hoping that her final dash to the Oscars are going to be as great as I know it can be. While Natalie is a Dior spokesmodel I don’t expect her to wear the label for the Spirit Awards. I would absoluely adore seeing Natalie take the Spirit Awards red carpet wearing this gorgeous lilac Valentino Pre-Fall 2017 cape dress. I think that this dress would drape ever so elegantly over Natalie’s baby bump, though it may have to be lengthened to ensure that she still maintains modesty. For a lot of her more recent appearances Natalie has worn flats with her red carpet looks and I totally get that. I would expect the same when she steps out for the Spirit Awards. A pair of gold flats, loose waves, and a smokey eye would definitely make sure that Natalie is on top form. ruth-negga-2017-independent-spirit-awards-red-carpet-wish-list-1Rounding out this set of wishes is the gorgeous Best Female Lead nominated beauty Ruth Negga, who has taken on the hashtag persona of #MeggaNegga on social media. Ruth has killed her red carpet looks this year and I am really looking forward to seeing what the rest of awards season has in store for her. For her Spirit Awards red carpet moment I would love to see Ruth go for surreal glamour with this Schiaparelli Spring 2017 Couture sleeveless a-line tea length dress which features car wash pleats. The predominantly black and white dress which features multi-color and multi-print of this gown make it a visual feast, and what better place to rock a little more unconventional type of dress than an awards show that honors the best in independent cinema. Finishing the look with a pair of red sandals, a smokey eye, and chic tight curls would really make this a perfect moment for Ruth on the Spirit Awards red carpet.

The 2017 Film Independent Spirit Awards will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017.
