The 2017 BAFTA Awards are set to take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London next Sunday night and I am really excited to see what the stars are going to bring to the red carpet. Last year we were introduced to the gorgeous Anya Taylor Joy and this year she is nominated for the BAFTA EE Rising Star award. I am very intrigued to see what the gorgeous actress will wear on the red carpet. Anya Taylor Joy has been a darling of Gucci since about the time we were introduced to her and since the label has a history of dressing one of the Rising Star nominees and I am hoping that this year Anya will be their choice. I would love to see Anya take to the BAFTA red carpet wearing this gorgeous bright sequin embellished Gucci Spring 2017 RTW tulle a-line gown, minus the neck ruffle. I think that this gown would be an elegant, yet bold statement. A perfect look for Anya to wear on the red carpet. A simple pair of black sandals, up-swept hair, smokey eye, and emerald earrings would add the perfect finishing touches.I have to say that I am honestly surprised that no one snagged this gorgeous raspberry red Valentino Pre-Fall 2017 sequined, cap sleeve gown for the SAG Awards. I have a feeling that if this gown isn’t worn for the BAFTA Awards that it is destined for Oscar night. I think that this is the perfect gown for the gorgeous Best Actress nominee Emily Blunt. I adore this gown and I really do think that the (now very) blonde actress would look gorgeous wearing this creation on the red carpet. The BAFTA’s can be the place where you can see simple gowns and grand couture all get red carpet moments. This Valentino gown falls perfectly in between those parameters and Emily would more than do it justice on the red carpet. Finishing the look with matching satin peep toe pumps, a loose romantic updo, diamond and ruby earrings, and a sun kissed face of makeup would ensure that this is a perfect look. Meryl Streep has received her bagillionth award nomination with her Best Actress nod for her work in Florence Foster Jenkins. Meryl has been really delivering this year with her custom Givenchy Couture at the Golden Globe Awards and a beautiful off the runway Valentino gown at the SAG’s and for the first time in a really long time I am really excited to see what the rest of awards season has in store for Meryl. For the BAFTA Awards I decided that going with a gorgeous traditional Korean style hanbok inspired dark teal Roksanda Pre-Fall 2017 gown which features gorgeous hand-painted watercolor flowers printed on it would be gorgeous for Meryl to rock on the red carpet. While it is a little more bold and full of volume than looks that Meryl has worn as of late I think that with the black ribbon defined waistline that this would not make Meryl look large, which I know can be a fear. Finishing the look with a defined eye (to pop behind her glasses,) a pair of black satin pumps, and a pink lip would make this another amazing look for Meryl. Naomie Harris went from the best dressed list in custom Armani Prive at the Golden Globe Awards to the worst dressed wearing Lanvin at the SAG Awards. I am hoping that that Lanvin look was just a single misstep on Naomie’s road to the Academy Awards. Naomie is one of the women who are on my favorites to watch list this awards season so I it really pains me to put her on a worst dressed list, because I know how much potential that she really has. When she is on home court for the BAFTA Awards, where her performance in Moonlight has earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination, I am expecting Naomie to really shut the red carpet down. I think that this light pink Ralph & Russo Fall 2016 Couture strapless column gown which features a cape train lined in dark maroon and maroon floral embroidery on the gown and the cape would be a totally regal moment for Naomie to wear on the red carpet. I have been waiting for someone to give this gown a red carpet moment and I really think that Naomie would more than do this look justice on the red carpet. A dyed to match maroon clutch, a pair of Charlotte Olympia ‘Ursula’ satin sandals also dyed maroon, a chic updo, diamond cluster earrings, and a smokey eye would all turn this into a look that would totally make me forgive that SAG jumpsuit. Nicole Kidman really made a bold choice when she stepped out on the SAG Awards red carpet wearing an emerald sequin custom Gucci gown with feather embellish bird head’s embroidered onto her shoulder. It was such a bold look for Nicole I was really surprised that she made that selection. I don’t know if she will go for something quite that bold for the BAFTA Awards red carpet, in fact I went black for her BAFTA gown. I think that Nicole would look gorgeous textured black Olivier Theyskens Spring 2017 RTW strapless fit to flare gown which features a belted waistband and very dramatic train. I know Nicole that the potential to top best dressed lists and I think that she would definitely make the cut wearing this gorgeous gown on the BAFTA red carpet. Elevating this look with the styling will really help seal this as a best dressed moment for Nicole. A loose updo pulled away from her face, a lined eye, pink lip, black Christian Louboutin pumps, and statement Cartier High Jewellery including a pair of emerald, diamond, and sapphire drop earrings and a diamond, emerald, sapphire, and opal cuff bracelet would be the perfect touches to really sell this look on the red carpet. Rounding out my BAFTA wishes is Game of Thrones starlet Sophie Turner, who helped announce this years crop of nominees. With that in mind I would only imagine that Sophie will attend the big event next Sunday as one of the evening’s presenters. Sophie has been a darling of Louis Vuitton for about a year now and only her black and white Golden Globe Awards gown really spoke to me. I would love to see Sophie expand her repertoire of designers on the red carpet again. Since she will be on the BAFTA red carpet and is a British actress herself why not represent a British brand on the red carpet? I think that Sophie would look so ethereal wearing this nude Giles Fall 2016 Couture gown which features a dot embroidered layer and metallic feather inspired waist detailing. This gown would just look like an extension of Sophie as the color would pretty much match her skin tone perfectly. Adding a pair of nude Louis Vuitton ‘Unchain’ ankle strap sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eye, nude lip, and a pair of statement Chopard red carpet collection topaz and sapphire paisley earrings would really turn this into a killer moment.
