Next Monday (February 6, 2017) everyone nominated for an Academy Award will gather for this year Academy Award Nominees Luncheon. This is always quite the glamorous event as all the actors and actresses nominated rub shoulders with the people that helped them achieve their stellar performances. After winning the Golden Globe Award Isabelle Huppert has gained some traction to be a real contender for the Oscar for Best Actress thanks to her performance in Elle. Like I said in an earlier post couture isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this red carpet, but if any one of the nominees could make it work it would be Isabelle. The Armani Prive Spring 2017 Couture collection was one of my favorites from the haute couture shows and since Isabelle was perched front row I am intrigued to see what she will be bringing to the red carpets over the next few weeks. I think that this visual print blazer paired with a lace blouse and black pants would look so chic on Isabelle and is perfect for the nominees luncheon. Old Hollywood waves, a fresh face of makeup, and a pair of simple black pumps would be the perfect finishing touches to this look. Michelle Williams has continually been the biggest snooze fest of the year. Last night at the SAG Awards Michelle wore a custom Louis Vuitton gown which immediately made me think of the Louis Vuitton gown Alicia Vikander wore to the same event last year. I am hoping that Michelle will turn things around between now and the Oscars, but I know that is probably the least likely things to happen. I would bet that Michelle will wear some neutral Louis Vuitton fit to flare casual dress on the red carpet at the Academy Awards nominees luncheon, but I would love to see her wearing this burnt orange Fendi Pre-Fall 2017 long sleeve cocktail dress which features a cream peter pan style collar, full skirt, and a black hemline. I think that this dress is the perfect look for Michelle as it fits her quirky style perfectly. A pair of black Louis Vuitton sandals (so she still represents the brand,) a sleek hairstyle, and a fresh face of makeup would make this a great look to really bring Michelle back to life on the red carpet.Natalie Portman is very pregnant. Based on my pseudo-math I believe that Natalie is just about ready to pop and with that in mind I don’t know if she will be going to make it to the Oscars red carpet. I personally think that Natalie’s performance in Jackie was the best performance by an actress in a movie in a really long time and I personally would love to see her win. If the closest that Nat gets to the Oscars red carpet this year is the Nominees Luncheon next Monday I want her to go about it in high style. I think that this orange Jenny Packham Spring 2017 RTW silk chiffon peasant style dress would be perfect. This dress would drape over Natalie’s baby bump in the chicest way possible, and not make her look like shes wearing a comforter liker her Dior Couture SAG Awards gown did. I think that a pair of gold Christian Dior pumps, loose waves, and classic fresh face makeup would finish this look to perfection. As I said in my Best Dressed at the SAG Awards list that while I was wishing that Octavia Spencer would expand her red carpet repertoire but her best fit is her longstanding relationship with Tadashi. I am back to the brand for her to wear on the red carpet at the Academy Award Nominees Luncheon. I think that this almost 40’s swing style Tadashi Shoji Pre-Fall 2017 raspberry red dress which features a bit of a plunging neckline, Juliet sleeve, floral print, and a knee length skirt would be a good choice for Octavia to wear on the red carpet. This is the most casual red carpet of awards season and I think that while casual is the name of the game, that we will still see very elevated looks on the red carpet. I could see Octavia finishing this look with loose waves, a pink lip, and a pair of black pumps. Viola Davis won the Best Supporting Actress award at the SAG Awards last night all but sealing the deal that she will win the Academy Award in the same category at the end of next month. With that in mind I am going to need Viola to put all of her best feet forward over the next four weeks. For the red carpet at the Nominees Luncheon I think that this plum purple Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2017 pencil dress which features an embellished crew neckline, ruffles at the bodice, and a midi length would help Viola to really kick off that glamorous sprint to the Oscars. The color would look amazing on Viola and the ruffles add some visual interest to this look. Adding a pair of silver pumps, short bob, and a red lip would add the perfect finishing touches to this winning look.
