Runway Report: Yanina Spring 2017 Couture

runway-report-yanina-spring-2017-couture-1I always adore finding new brands as I take in the runway collections from any of the fashion weeks. Yanina is no stranger to Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, but over the last year it seemed like the brand gained a lot of international traction dressing some of the biggest names in the world for some of the most glamorous red carpets of the year. For her Spring 2017 Couture collection Yulia Yanina referenced the romanticism in the Spanish tango. There were references to matadors, flamenco dancers, Spanish roses, and baroque scroll-work found on Spanish tile and all meshed together in a way that came across as glamorous and elegant instead of looking like a parade of costumes (like it very well could have.) For the first time I can actually see one of Yanina’s gowns on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. My favorite look from the collection, the white mermaid gown with black baroque embroidery, seems destined to be on the back of Janelle Monae as she attends the Oscars to support her Best Picture nominated film Hidden Figures. runway-report-yanina-spring-2017-couture-2The variety of stars that I can picture bringing this collection to life on the red carpet is extremely eclectic. In addition to Janelle I would love to see Dita Von Teese, Nieves Alvarez, Gwen Stefani, Eva Longoria, Naomi Watts, Camila Alves, Sonam Kapoor, Elizabeth Banks, Bella Hadid, Salma Hayek, Ashley Tisdale, Sarah Paulson, Lily Collins, Sophie Turner, Emma Roberts, Abigail Spencer, Fan Bingbing, Jaime Chung, Sarah Hyland, Carrie Underwood, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, and Kirsten Dunst all don looks from this collection.runway-report-yanina-spring-2017-couture-3You can see all my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2017 Couture collections, and my immediate wishes of who I want to see wearing them on my Pinterest page.
