Giorgio Armani loves to reference two things in his collections celestial creations and Asian motifs. Both were alive in his Spring 2017 Couture collection for Armani Prive. It was like watching the sunrise and I adored it. Not very often to I go through an Armani collection and adore every look that walks the runway but yesterday Giorgio delivered a collection that did just that. With his standard evening suits and gorgeous gowns made up in every shade of orange from creamsicle to mandarin orange I was blown away. Somehow orange for spring just seems so fresh and new. Usually we see the color touted around for fall, which has become a bit of a standard. I feel like after taking in this collection that Miranda Priestly would say “Orange? For spring? Groundbreaking” and actually mean it. Now where orange isn’t a place that receives a whole lot of love? On the red carpet. I am praying that this collection is choc full of red carpet moments, because it really has amazing potential. What is my favorite look in the collection? The sculptural one shoulder gown made of liquid sequins with black floral embroidery on the bodice. The moment I saw this gown make its way down the runway I had a freak out moment and said that Emma Stone needs to get her hands on it for the SAG Awards this weekend. Perched front row at this show included Nicole Kidman and Isabelle Huppert, who were both nominated for Oscars prior to the show beginning. Were they scoping out the possibilities for a gown to wear on Hollywood’s biggest night? There are definitely possibilities for both. Other celebrities that I would love to see bring this collection to life on the red carpet include Naomi Watts, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Kirsten Dunst, Elizabeth Banks, Kiernan Shipka, Lady Gaga, Naomie Harris, Julianne Moore, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Bella Heathcote, Rita Ora, Lupita Nyong’o, Claire Danes, Kate Hudson, Michelle Williams, Anne Hathaway, Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, Elle Fanning, Blake Lively, Camilla Belle, Cate Blanchett, Zhang Yuqi, Sarah Paulson, Liya Kebede, Sonam Kapoor, Fan Bingbing, Rihanna, Kate Beckinsale, Uma Thurman, and Zhang Ziyi. You can see all my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2017 Couture collections, and my immediate wishes of who I want to see wearing them on my Pinterest page.
