I totally went into the first day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week expecting to totally rip into the Dior collection. In her first two collections as the creative director for Dior Maria Grazia Chiuri seemed like she couldn’t remove herself from her previous employer, Valentino. Her debut Couture collection for Dior found her with her best collection yet. Staged in a fully green space inside a tent in the courtyard at the Musee Rodin, the standard setting for a Dior collection, Maria showcased a collection that really payed homage to the codes that Monsieur Dior established the label with. Coming up with a mostly evening collection for the Spring 2017 Couture collection was probably the best choice that Chiuri could have made. This collection produced red carpet moment after red carpet moment and I am really excited to see where the go. Grasping that same idea of tarot and astrology, something that Monsieur Dior noted as points of reference, but adding a dose of the nipped waist and full skirted look of the Dior classic “new look” and a whole lot of fairy tale fantasy there were very few looks from this collection that I didn’t like. It was hard to choose by my absolute favorite look from this collection was the strapless blush pink ruffles ballgown with very soft floral embroidery on the bodice. Someone like Kirsten Dunst or Hailee Steinfeld would really make this a gorgeous red carpet moment. All in all I finally got the collection that makes me really excited to see what the future of Dior in the hands of Maria Grazia Chiuri will be. Always a hit with the celebrity crowd I am sure that this extremely glamorous collection will be all over the red carpet scene. Some of the stars that I picture wearing this collection include Penelope Cruz, Meryl Streep, Diane Kruger, Olga Kurylenko, Lily Collins, Kate Hudson, Dakota Johnson, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Naomie Harris, Sonam Kapoor, Fan Bingbing, Claire Danes, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Janelle Monae, Ruth Negga, Amber Heard, Thandie Newton, Sienna Miller, Amy Adams, Evan Rachel Wood, Dakota Fanning, Claire Foy, Brie Larson, Bella Heathcote, Kate Bosworth, Rebecca Hall, Kristin Scott Thomas, Emily Blunt, Rihanna, Hilary Swank, Kirsten Dunst, Reese Witherspoon, Allison Williams, Ella Purnell, Lupita Nyong’o, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Chastain, Brie Larson, Freida Pinto, Kate Beckinsale, Gwen Stefani, Zoe Saldana, Zendaya and Kerry Washington. You can see all my favorite looks from the Spring/Summer 2017 Couture collections, and my immediate wishes of who I want to see wearing them on my Pinterest page.
