Well the awards season train is just going to continue to on full steam ahead. The day after the Producers Guild Awards the Screen Actors Guild will award the best talent from the last year in movies and in television. Depending who gets nominated for an Academy Award the prior Monday all eyes will be on the film acting categories as the winner of the SAG Award usually goes on to win the Oscar. With that in mind some of the ladies who have had major speculation of them taking home the little gold man will surely be on tip top form at the SAG Awards. Amy Adams has the potential to really wow me, her gorgeous red locks and her alabaster skin make for the perfect look to really wear just about anything. Since the Screen Actors Guild Awards (which are January 29) is usually a bit more of a relaxed vibe compared to the Golden Globe or Oscars red carpet, I would love to see Amy do something tea length. After her very sleek grey sequin Tom Ford gown at the Globes this strapless white Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture tea length gown which features a sheer hem and multicolored floral embroideries on the bodice would be a very lady like and glamorous option. Amy is one of those ones who could be looking an Oscar in the face at the end of next month for her performance in Arrival so I would imagine that stellar red carpet moments from here on out will be her new norm. This dress is sweet and elegant which is perfect for the SAG Awards red carpet. Rounding this look out with gold pumps, a sleek low ponytail, pink lip, and diamond cluster earrings would make this an absolutely beautiful red carpet moment. While we still have a week until the Oscar nominations are announced things aren’t looking so great for Emily Blunt, who is nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance in The Girl on the Train. While I have not seen all of the performances nominated I have seen a few. Emily’s performance in this film was among one of her best ever, in my opinion, and I was a little surprised that she hasn’t gotten more awards season love. With it seeming like this is going to be her big night during awards season I would imagine that Emily is going to bring it to the red carpet. I would love to see Emily hit the SAG red carpet wearing this gorgeous multicolored lace Jenny Packham Spring 2017 RTW tiered gown. I think that this gown is so chic and elegant, but that with all the details one could get lost wearing it. Emily knows how to wear a complicated gown with ease and I think that this would be quite the lovely moment on her. I would imagine this gown styled with a simple pair of black sandals, loose updo, simple fresh faced makeup, gold drop earrings, and a black clutch would turn out a gorgeous look for Emily. Emma Stone has some big fashionable shoes to fill following her Best Dressed list topping Valentino Couture at the Golden Globe Awards. Emma’s past SAG Awards moments have been from Alexander McQueen and Christian Dior Couture. Both looks were dark and moody, and I kinda kept along with that but in a little bit of a lighter way. This gorgeous periwinkle blue Schiaparelli Fall 2016 Couture one shoulder gown which features a butterfly print, asymmetrical neckline, and wine velvet bodice detailing is something that I can for sure see on both the SAG Awards red carpet and on Emma. The subtle whimsical nature of this gown would be the perfect more relaxed look for Emma to deliver on this red carpet, while still maintaining best dressed potential. Eyes will be on Emma after her Golden Globe Awards win (the only SAG nominated actress to win a Globe) as the race to Oscar continues. Finishing this look with a sleek low bun, wine red lip, lined eye, metallic grey sandals, and gold set ruby cluster earrings would help keep Emma at the top of the best dressed list. Meryl Streep was one of, if the the most, the most talked about people from the Golden Globe Awards simply for her speech against Donald Trump. I applauded Meryl for taking the platform and speaking out on social issues and not just thanking this person and that person, and she did so wearing a gorgeous custom Givenchy gown. I had already decided to keep with the custom idea for Meryl for the Screen Actors Guild Awards where her performance in Florence Foster Jenkins has earned her a nomination. I have not been the biggest fan of Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia at Balenciaga. The clothes have been a little too street and avant garde, even for my taste, but there were some really glamorous pieces in the Balenciaga Spring 2017 RTW collection. I loved the draped jersey pieces and I think that this purple draped top would be the perfect inspiration for Meryl Streep to wear for the SAG Awards with a beautiful draped skirt. This gown evokes the glamour of the 40s and the boldness of the 80s and I think that it would really be a gorgeous moment for Meryl, who has been taking her red carpet game a little more seriously recently. A simple updo, classic makeup, nude lip, black pumps, & a diamond broach would finish this look perfectly.Natalie Portman is the last person on this list who could be looking at, another, little gold man at the end of last month. Her performance in Jackie was emotionally raw and absolute perfection. I cried a few times with her and for her during this movie, and it’s hard to make me cry during a movie. I expected that Natalie would show up for the Golden Globe Awards wearing a custom Dior gown, but she shocked me (and many in the fashion world) by wearing a gorgeous 60s inspired custom canary yellow Prada gown. I am hoping that Natalie continues to shun Dior when she steps out on the SAG red carpet. I think that Natalie would look gorgeous wearing this ivory Lanvin Spring 2017 RTW sleeveless mirror jersey gown which features a plunging v-neckline, a knotted detail at the waist, and a column skirt. The chic, simple silhouette and malleable jersey fabric would make this a perfect red carpet maternity look. My only reservation about Natalie wearing this gown on the SAG red carpet is that it could be too similar to the white Azzaro gown she wore while pregnant on the SAG red carpet in 2011. I think that with a silver Dior clutch, silver peep toe pumps, sleek updo, light smokey eye, red lip, a pair of diamond and sapphire Dior Fine Jewelry ‘gros grain saphir’ drop earrings, and a diamond and sapphire Dior Fine Jewelry ‘gros grain saphir’ bracelet would make this another gorgeous red carpet moment for Natalie.
I will be live tweeting the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet on Sunday January 29, 2016 starting at 6PM, feel free to follow and join me for fashion ids and fun snark.
