Runway Report: Valentino Pre-Fall 2017

runway-report-valentino-pre-fall-2017-1I was just watching through some Instagram stories on Wednesday and all of the sudden Eva Chen’s story comes up and she is on her way to a Valentino fashion show. I was surprised that I hadn’t heard that Pierpaolo Piccioli was going to be showing an actual runway collection for his Pre-Fall 2017 collection for Valentino. His sophomore solo runway show was held in New York City at the recently renovated Beekman Hotel and the clothes definitely fit right in the gorgeous setting. I loved that save for a few distinct evening looks that for Pre-Fall 2017 Pierpaolo focused on a lot of daywear. Valentino has really dominated on the red carpet, but also on the sidewalk runway. Street style mavens have been working a lot of the great Valentino prints and more modern styles into their wardrobes and creating some really great moments. Pierpaolo told Vogue Runway that β€œIt’s important to give daywear a touch of dreams.” He did just that. With referencing of the 1920’s and 1930’s (as well as some Victorian references) the looks are poised to dominated both the street style and red carpet scenes. While the collection was full of gorgeous daywear, it was the fully sequined raspberry red gown that really wowed me. I can picture Sarah Paulson gliding down the red carpet at the SAG Awards wearing this creation. runway-report-valentino-pre-fall-2017-2Other celebrities I can see wearing this collection on and off the red carpet include Mila Kunis, Dianna Agron, Liya Kebede, Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Felicity Jones, Marion Cotillard, Kate Beckinsale, Jennifer Lawrence, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kirsten Dunst, Zoey Deutch, Emily Blunt, Kerry Washington, Elle Fanning, Zoe Saldana, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Barbara Palvin, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lady Gaga, Dakota Fanning, and Lea Seydoux. You can watch the whole show below.

You can see all my favorite looks, and who I think should wear them, from the Pre-Fall 2017 collections over on my Pinterest page.
