The Golden Globe Awards are less than a week away and the parties are already in full swing and I am really excited to see what the week is going to bring. The Best Actress in a Television Movie or Limited Series is pretty much a lock this year, so most of the women in this category will attend the show on Sunday simply as a formality. Felicity Huffman, who is nominated for her performance in the limited series American Crime, is one of the women who will show up just for formality. I have to say that I tried watching American Crime and I was rather bored with it so I am surprised by Felicity’s nomination. I have never really been a fan of Felicity’s style, with her 2006 Zac Posen Oscar gown as the lone exception, so I am not really expecting anything more from her come the Globes. I think that this hot pink Tony Ward Spring 2017 RTW draped gown which features a daring side spit and feminine floral embellishments on the bottom hem would be gorgeous on her. I doubt that Felicity would ever be on the top of a best dressed list but I am trying to keep her off the worst dressed or indifferent lists. I sadly still haven’t seen Kerry Washington’s HBO movie Confirmation yet. From what I have heard she is the only real contender to upset the win in this category, but that is highly unlikely right now. I am hoping that when she steps out on the Globes red carpet on Sunday that Kerry really wows me. Her black Elie Saab star embroidered dress at the Critics Choice Awards was less than impressive to me and I know she can redeem herself. I think that this white Monse Spring 2017 RTW draped evening gown which features a sexy side split and blue sequin detailing along the neck and shoulder would be FANTASTIC on Kerry. I am hoping that Monse gets a major moment on an awards show red carpet this year. The label has been so cool and I think the acclaim would be well earned. The dress is such a cool girl statement and Kerry is the perfect cool girl to make it work on the Globes red carpet. Finishing the looks with simple accessories like a white stripe Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch, a pair of silver sequin Gianvito Rossi ‘Palladium’ sandals, diamond and sapphire drop earrings, a sleek bun, smokey eye, and nude lip would really make this a wow moment for Kerry on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Riley Keough has earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her role in The Girlfriend Experience and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet on Sunday night. Riley has the ability to rock some edgy looks on the red carpet, this is the same woman who rocked a white men’s shirt and a knee length Valentino skirt on the red carpet at a Cannes movie premiere. I gave a harsh criticism of this white Christian Dior Spring 2017 RTW gown because I liken it to a high fashion version of a fencing uniform and it wouldn’t work on most. While I still have some trepidation in making this wish for the Globes, because it might still be a little to avant garde for the American market, but I think that Riley would be the perfect person to bring this gown to life on the red carpet. I think that her effortless edge would turn this gown into the moment that I know it can be, despite my reservations. Her hair was terrible at the Miss Golden Globe Awards party back in November and I am hoping that it will all be back on point on Sunday night. I think that a sleek bun, lined eye, red lip, white clutch, a pair of diamond cluster earrings, and silver sandals would ensure that this is a major moment for Riley’s first Globes red carpet.I had to save the best for last. Everyone is expecting that Sarah Paulson will be taking home the Golden Globe Award on Sunday night in this category thanks to her role as Marcia Clark in The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. It would be a major upset if Sarah doesn’t take home this award after winning an Emmy and a Critics Choice Award for this performance. I went back and forth on what type of gown that Sarah would wear on the red carpet and I ultimately settled on this absolutely gorgeous pink, red, and black Valentino Spring 2017 RTW gown. I think that this sleeveless fully embellished column gown is so spectacular. I have ogled over the details in this dress, it rivals the work in haute couture. I wondered if I should wish for this gown to be made into a strapless look, but the more I think about it I think that it is perfect the way it is for Sarah and the Globes red carpet. I would just style this look with a chic pixie, lined eye, nude lip, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of black pumps to really let the gown be the star of this look.
I will be live-tweeting the red carpet and ceremony of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards starting at 6PM EST. Grab a glass of champagne and follow me on Twitter to find out what all the stars are wearing on the red carpet.
