The 2017 AFI Awards are just around the corner and I have to say that I am excited to see what the stars are going to bring to the red carpet as Golden Globe weekend kicks off. We will start to see The Crown star Claire Foy’s red carpet journey. For her first big red carpet appearance, at the shows premiere in London, Claire wore a very pretty pink and gold Erdem dress and I am sure that she will be one to watch in the new year (you can add her to the list.) For the AFI Awards I would love to see Claire hit the red carpet wearing this gorgeous fantastical foxglove printed Temperley London Pre-Fall 2017 dress which features deep v-neckline and an a-line silhouette. I love it when British actresses hit the red carpet wearing British labels because I don’t feel like they get enough love on the red carpet. This dress is the perfect mix of sexy and classic ladylike styles that it would be a perfect choice for the AFI Awards red carpet. I would pair this dress with a pair of peach colored pumps, a chic chignon, and a soft pink lip to really continue Claire on a very glamorous rise in fame. Emma Stone is hands down the person this awards season that I am most excited to see hit the red carpet over the course of awards season. Emma has some of the best style and I cannot wait to see what she and stylist Petra Flannery cook up together. For the AFI Awards, where Emma’s film La La Land is being honored, I would love to see her hit the red carpet wearing this purple Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2017 40’s inspired dress which is bias cut with puffy sleeves and dark purple floral embroidery. Emma can take on the inspiration of many decades, and while many I think would be overwhelmed by the bold sleeve of this look Emma would wear it with ease. Rounding this look out with a pair of statement silver Gucci crystal and pearl embellished sandals, a loose updo, lined eye, and a soft pink lip would really ensure that this is yet another stand out look for Emma. I am hoping that over the course of awards season 2017 that Michelle Williams does not wear wall to wall Louis Vuitton. I get that she is one of the faces of the brand, but not every look has to be from the label. I think that for a more relaxed occasion like the AFI Awards that breaking from the brand would be a great choice. To help support her honored film Manchester by the Sea at the 2017 AFI Awards I decided to go with this burgundy stripe Brock Collection Resort 2017 ensemble which features a jewel neck top with side ties and a pencil skirt. I think that this look is perfect for Michelle, but it does need one adjustment. The skirt is too long for Michelle, and I would love to see the skirt shortened to hit just above the knee. A pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Moon Shadow’ embellished sandals, a black and gold Louis Vuitton ‘Petite Malle’ clutch, chic pixie, and a pink lip would really make this a killer look for Michelle, and make sure that she still fulfills her brand ambassador duties. It has been the year of Sarah Paulson with her phenomenal performance in The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story garnering her lots of love including an Emmy and Critics Choice Award and is the expected winner of the Golden Globe and SAG Awards as well. Sarah has been on top form since the Emmy’s and I expect that she isn’t about to slow down. For the AFI Awards, where she show is being honored, I would love to see Sarah hit the red carpet in this red and white print Miu Miu Spring 2017 RTW shirt dress. Sarah wears Prada and Miu Miu so well, unlike most, so I do expect at least one more look from the label before awards season is over. This on trend shirt dress is perfect for this occasion and I think Sarah would look incredibly chic. Finishing the look with a pair of white pumps, a red clutch, chic pixie, and a red lip would really put Sarah on the top of best dressed list for this event.Rounding out my AFI Awards wishes is Viola Davis. In her Critics Choice Awards acceptance speech Viola talked about how she was just trying to loose weight. I personally love that Viola has curves and she is outside the skinny “perfect” body stereotype of Hollywood. Add to that the fact that Viola always looks gorgeous on the red carpet and I think that Viola should be totally confident in herself. Her performance in the AFI Awards honored film Fences has earned her awards and nominations and she is seeming like a lock for an Oscar nomination. For the AFI Awards I would love to see a flirty, breezy side of Viola that I don’t feel like we see very often. Usually Viola does goes for very chic lady like column style, but I want to see her loosen up and wear this gorgeous Tory Burch Spring 2017 RTW printed dress which features a tie bound off the shoulder neckline. I think that this more relaxed look is perfect for the luncheon setting of the AFI Awards. A pair of simple teal sandals, white clutch, chic curls, and a red lip would make this a look perfect for Viola.
