Another day another wish list for an awards ceremony during the first week of January. Hollywood stars are going to be raking up the airline miles as they jet from LA to NYC back to LA as the week starts on Monday January 2 with the Palm Springs Film Festival awards then heads to NYC on Wednesday for the National Board of Review Awards and then back to LA on Friday through the weekend for the AFI Awards and the Golden Globe’s. I am really excited for what awards season is going to bring. So many fabulous women are nominated. The AFI Awards honor films and very often we see the stars of the honored films in attendance at the awards luncheon. Amy Adams has garnered a lot of buzz, and several awards nominations, for her performance in the AFI Awards honored film Arrival and I am really excited to see what awards season is going to bring from her. The AFI Awards are the most casual event of the week so we will most likely be seeing everyone in their brunch best. I think that this blue fantasy floral print Alberta Ferretti Resort 2017 dress tiered long sleeve dress with a keyhole detail is absolutely perfect. Rounding the look with a pair of gold pumps, blown-out waves, and a glossy pink lip would ensure that Amy really kills this look. The AFI Awards don’t just honor the best in film but also the 10 best television programs of the last year. Game of Thrones has always been a critical and fan favorite so it doesn’t shock me that it nabbed one of those honors. Starlet Emilia Clarke is always one that I love to see on the red carpet and she definitely knows how to deliver some gorgeous looks. I would love to see Emilia on the red carpet at the AFI Awards luncheon to represent the show. This gorgeous light blue Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2017 RTW stretch floral dress which features a ruched bodice with crystal flower brooches at the shoulder, gathered bows, and an asymmetric ruffle accent at the front would be a look that would make me look like the heart eye emoji on Emilia. I was surprised that from the time this dress took the runway and now that it has not been snatched up. Rounding this look out with romantic curls, a bright pink lip, lined eye, and a pair of pink suede Charlotte Olympia ‘Salsa’ sandals would really ensure that this is a great kick off to Globes weekend for Emilia. I used to be a fan of Keri Russell’s red carpet style. She has delivered some really beautiful and edgy looks on the red carpet, but I haven’t been wowed by her in a really long time. I don’t expect a moment like her feathered Altuzarra gown at the Met Gala for the AFI Awards, but something chic and worn impeccably well will put her back on track. This Lanvin Resort 2017 ensemble which features a cream peasant blouse with a cream and navy scarf detailing and a pair of tapered navy cropped pants would do just that for Keri. While I would adore if Keri wore the green pumps that the look was paired with in the look book I know that would be a big stretch. I figure that the perfect styling of this look for her includes a pair of matte navy Christian Louboutin pointed toe pumps, loose waves, a glossy nude lip, and a lined eye. The most out there wish that I have for next Friday’s AFI Awards is for Naomie Harris. With her change in stylists recently I haven’t felt that same magic from Naomie on the red carpet. I am hoping that with the new year and all her awards stops that Naomie will have that spark back. This black Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2016 cocktail dress which features a rounded neckline, a sheer beaded bodice, and Juliet style sleeves with hidden zippers at the wrist may be a little over the top, like I said, but I think that Naomie is one of the few women in the world who could really pull this off (the only others that immediately come to mind are Dita Von Teese, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Nicole Kidman.) The dress is such a statement that to make it event appropriate the styling has to be kept very simple. A pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Aribak’ t-strap sandals, a black clutch, tight low bun, a lined eye, and red lip would round out this look to perfection ensuring that Naomie slays the AFI Awards red carpet.Rounding out this set of wishes is Teresa Palmer, who is getting her first feature on my blog. Her run while pregnant for the AFI Award winning film Hacksaw Ridge was fantastic. Now that she has given birth I wonder if she will be on the awards season trail to support the film. Her performance did not earn her any nominations but I have a feeling that Teresa will be on the red carpets just to lend her support to her nominated film and co-stars through the season. For the AFI Awards I picked this uber casual floral print Coach 1941 Spring 2017 RTW smock style dress because it is beautiful but also appropriate for someone who is just supporting and not lobbying for an Oscar nomination. This dress is kind of evocative of the styles that were worn around the time that Hacksaw Ridge is set which makes it a chic ode to the film. I would add some stand out styling to this look with a black clutch, a pair of black pumps, chic curls, and a red lip to make this more of a stand out look.
