After the Palm Springs International Film Festival black tie awards gala on Monday (January 2) some of the stars will jet across the country to attend the 2017 National Board of Review Awards gala on Wednesday January 4, 2016. Amy Adams will be honored at these awards with the Best Actress award for her work in the film Arrival. Most people had it pegged that it was going to be Nocturnal Animals that was going to send Amy through an awards season run, but I have to say that I am glad that isn’t the case. If it were I feel like we would be seeing Amy in one Tom Ford look after another. The National Board of Review Awards are usually the most relaxed red carpet of the week. I think that this lilac Altuzarra Pre-Fall 2017 off the shoulder cocktail dress which features ruched detailing, three quarter length sleeves, and an off the shoulder neckline would be absolutely lovely on Amy. The classic style of this dress is perfect for Amy and it would be the perfect style for the National Board of Review Awards. Upping the glamour of this look with old Hollywood waves, diamond drop earrings, a chic lined eye, pink lip, and silver metallic pumps would really ensure that Amy kicks off 2017 with a killer red carpet run. Janelle Monae is part of the cast of Hidden Figures being honored with the Best Ensemble award next Wednesday. I have said that I am hoping that 2017 is the year we start to see more color from Janelle. If she is going to ride with this film all the way to the Oscars I cannot be bored with her looks. For this red carpet I stuck to black with this Givenchy Spring 2017 RTW suit but infused color by picking the one that is covered in red crystals. I don’t want Janelle to change her whole style, just infuse a little more color into it and I think that this Givenchy suit is the perfect way for that to happen. Finishing this look with a full afro, smokey eye, red lip, black clutch, and black Christian Louboutin pumps would make it a red carpet win for Janelle. After Alicia Vikander had such a major awards season last year in Louis Vuitton it is going to be some big shoes for Michelle Williams to fill. So far I have been very pleasantly surprised. Her Spring 2017 crystal embellished gown at the Academy’s Governors Awards was a shocking surprise and a huge hit in my book. Michelle’s film Manchester By The Sea is the National Board of Review’s honoree for Best Film and that makes me think that she will be on hand for this award presentation. I would love to see Michelle hit the red carpet wearing this absolutely gorgeous Louis Vuitton Spring 2017 RTW cocktail dress rendered in white lace, black satin, and burgundy silk. Michelle has already worn a gown made out of the same lace for the Critics Choice Awards, but I think we could see Michelle wearing some of the same styles as awards season progresses. I think that with the dress being such a statement that a simple pair of black sandals (though burgundy would be the absolute perfect choice,) a diamond bracelet, and a lined eye would really send this look into total perfection. Rounding out this list is this years National Board of Review Best Supporting Actress nominee Naomie Harris. I am a little unsure of what Naomie’s awards season run is going to be since she switched stylists recently and I have to say her first couple of looks did not have the same magic as they used to. I am hoping that as the year kicks off we see Naomie back on top and that her style only grows. For the National Board of Review Awards next Wednesday I would love to see Naomie hit the red carpet wearing this gorgeous navy pin stripe Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2017 ensemble which features a peplum sweetheart tank top and button detailed front slit skirt. I think that this modern take on mens suiting for Naomie is the absolute perfect look to wear for this red carpet. With the more dressed down cocktail style of this red carpet I think that Naomie would fit in just perfectly. What I always loved about Naomie is her ability to accessorize in the perfect way. The stand out way to accessorize this look is with a champagne coffered rectangle Judith Leiber crystal clutch, adding a pair of statement multi-colored Christian Louboutin ‘Tudor Bal’ sandals, chic old Hollywood waves, and a red lip to really round out this look.
