I have to say that I was probably most surprised to see that Pablo Larraín’s Jackie Kennedy bio-pic Jackie was selected for the 2016 Venice Film Festival. I had read several articles that wished that the film would make the cut but said that sources were saying that it wouldn’t be ready in time and was looking more like a Berlin or Cannes 2017 contender, but alas it made the cut. I am hoping that it will lead Natalie Portman from the red carpet of Venice to the 2017 Academy Awards, because she has some of the best style and I can’t wait to see what she is going to bring to the red carpets. As a Dior model we are used to seeing Natalie wear the label for almost all of her red carpet appearances. With two films premiering at this years Venice Film Fest I am hoping that we see a little variety with Natalie’s sartorial selections. For the Jackie photocall and press conference I would love to see Natalie take to the stage wearing this red Giambattista Valli Resort 2017 sleeveless dress which features a floral cutwork design a-line skirt and a below the knee hemline. While I would believe that Natalie does have contractual obligations to Dior the whole look doesn’t have to come from the label, I would love to see her pair this dress with a pair of black Christian Dior crackled deerskin pumps featuring crystal and red detailing would still incorporate the label into her look. Since I picked an off brand look for Natalie to wear for the films photocall I did choose a Dior look for Natalie to wear for the red carpet premiere of Jackie. I think that if Jackie Kennedy was a First Lady today I think that this white Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture sleeveless lace and gown, and I think that Natalie would look so very classically elegant on this red carpet. Natalie would give this gown an air of glamour that only some can pull off. Styling the look with a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Lilico’ appliqued leather sandals, a white box clutch, a pair of Dior High Jewellery ‘Salon de Mars Baguette’ emerald and diamond earrings, soft romantic makeup, and a chic updo would really show why Natalie is one of the best Dior spokeswomen. I decided to throw another wish for Venice Film Festival feature film jury member Gemma Arterton. We are going to see a lot of Gemma over Venice and then she has two films premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, so we will get to see a lot of her sartorial choices. While this teal Roberto Cavalli Pre-Fall 2016 long sleeved gown is now an archived season, I think that the style and the color just scream Gemma and I would be that we see her wear at least one Cavalli design over the course of the festival. Fun sassy bob, pink lips, simple diamond drop earrings, and black Jimmy Choo ‘Lana’ embellished satin sandals would ensure that Gemma is one to keep an eye out for.
The 2016 Venice Film Festival opens August 31, 2016 and tuns through September 10, 2016.
