The 2016 Venice Film Festival is sure to deliver us with many Best Dressed of the Year red carpet moments with those who are storied red carpet heavy hitters and those that are more of the dark horse. I would put Game of Thrones star Carice Van Houten in that dark horse category. For the red carpet Carice almost always steps out wearing couture from the likes of Chanel and Dior, and I honestly believe that she owns her own couture. At the Venice Film Festival Carice is slated to premiere her latest project Brimstone. For the films photocall I went with a little more out there choice picking a gorgeous white Carolina Herrera Spring 2016 RTW embellished midi-length jacket dress which features a collarless, v-neck, and elbow-length sleeves. I think that for a breezy Venice photocall (which is held indoors instead of outside like at Cannes, though we see stars arriving by boat for the event) that this dress is exactly what Carice would need. For the premiere I went with something a that I could picture Carice having her eye on. This gorgeous royal blue Christian Dior Spring 2015 Couture strapless lace tea length gown would be a major wow moment. I have been waiting to see this gown on the red carpet and I think that Carice, who has a great relationship with Dior wearing custom couture for the 2015 Emmy Awards and Spring 2013 Couture for the 2016 SAG Awards, would more than do it justice. A pair of metallic silver or blue Christian Dior pumps, chic updo, red lip, and a pair of dazzling diamond drop earrings would make this a major red carpet moment. I am praying that over the course of the fall festival season, where she has several movies to promote, that we see Dakota Fanning finally start to embrace glamour. Her sister, Elle Fanning, has been killing it this year promoting The Neon Demon, and I am hoping that some of that confidence will rub off on Dakota, as the two share the same stylist. Dakota has the ability to pick some gorgeous looks, and ruining them with terrible hair and makeup. I know that is why I end up putting a lot of her looks on the worst dressed list. I am hoping that she will have her hair and makeup on point as she is going to have a lot of appearances to make over the coming months. At the 2016 Venice Film Festival Brimstone is the only film that Dakota is promoting (she has two at the Toronto Film Festival) so she has one day to make an impression on me for this festival. For the film’s red carpet I am stepping out of Dakota’s black/white comfort zone to pick this eye catching orange Chanel Resort 2017 tweed dress which features pocket details on the blouse and a gold belt. I think that this would be a gorgeous look on Dakota who has that creamy skin tone (almost like that of the runway model) and it’s one Chanel (one of her go to brands.) For the red carpet gala premiere I went back to black but anything but basic with this gorgeous strapless Armani Prive Fall 2016 Couture tired gown which features an embellished tulle hem and a crustal embellished rope belt. Dakota would look absolutely gorgeous (and hopefully not melt in the Venice sun) wearing this gown. A chic updo, red lip, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of simple black sandals would ensure that Dakota takes the Venice Film Festival with full fashion force.
