On Thursday, the second day of the festival, we will have the second gala screening (the first being Cafe Society at the opening ceremony) with Money Monster. We are going to be having a big day with lots of red carpet fashion, all of the films stars, plus ones, and L’Oreal ladies making it a very busy day for the red carpet. Up first is relative red carpet newcomer Caitriona Balfe, who was a muse for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld in her modeling days. For the photocall I picked this olive green BOSS Fall 2016 RTW sleeveless sheath dress with an asymmetrical peplum. I have been less than impressed with Caitriona’s red carpet style thus far and I am hoping that Cannes will finally give me some looks to lust over. I think that for the photocall that this BOSS dress is so sophisticated and modern with a nod to classic elegance that Caitriona would shine quite beautifully. Turning up the glamour dial up a few more notches this mauve Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture one shoulder ballgown with hand painted floral print would be absolutely perfect for Caitriona to prove that she can hang with the queens of Cannes. Julia Roberts is one that I usually just glance right past and I am hoping that come her very first Cannes Film Festival (I know it’s kinda shocking that it will be her first time) that she really wow’s me. I didn’t realize it when I did it but I also picked a BOSS look for Julia to wear for the Money Monster photocall. I picked a black long sleeve blouse paired with a white skirt with a black and white geometric print panel from the BOSS Pre-Fall 2016 collection. I think that Julia would look so chic over looking the French Riviera wearing this ensemble, though the top might be a little warm. For the premiere I can imagine Julia wearing a whole host of designers. I figure that she will wear a custom Givenchy couture gown, probably in black though I am hoping for some color. I went with this navy blue Schiaparelli Spring 2016 Couture asymmetrical draped gown. I think that this is chic and Julia would look absolutely gorgeous wearing it. It is just enough out of her standard that I think that it would never happen, but it would be absolutely gorgeous for her first Cannes appearance.Jodie Foster is the director of Money Monster and she almost always brings something chic to the red carpet. I think that for the photocall that Jodie will most likely wear a pantsuit but this goldenrod and black Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2016 sleeveless dress which features a floral print and sheer lace panel would be a great choice. It is dark and elegant yet chic and breezy, perfect for the outdoor setting of the photocall. For the premiere I can almost guarantee you that Jodie will call her old friends at Giorgio Armani for her red carpet look. I think that this black floral lace Giorgio Armani Fall 2016 RTW strapless gown, modified to have a nude sequin lining, would be an absolutely amazing red carpet moment. I think the addition of the nude sequined lining would add just the right amount of sparkle to this look to really ensure that Jodie kills the premiere of her film.Out of everyone that will most likely attend the Cannes Film Festival premiere of Money Monster it is George Clooney’s wife Amal Clooney that I am most excited to seeing on the red carpet. Amal has always brought some amazing red carpet moments to the red carpet. I think that this gorgeous ruby red Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture sleeveless, fully embellished, trumpet gown would be absolutely gorgeous on Amal, minus the fur around the arms. I am expecting a regal and glamorous moment from Amal at Cannes and this would be that moment and then some. How could this look go wrong? I can’t think of anything. I doubt that the jury members will be back on the red carpet so soon after the opening ceremony but if they are I hope that they dress in such high style to hang with all the glamorous women that will be out. I would love to see Kirsten Dunst hit the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals wearing this dramatic white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture gown which features a beaded short sleeve bodice and a full ruffled ball skirt. This is one of the looks that I am praying gets a moment on the Cannes red carpet and I think that Kirsten would do it the justice it deserves. There is only one designer that Vanessa Paradis has worn in the past 5 years that wasn’t Chanel, and it is Alexandre Vauthier. There has yet to be a real major moment from Alexandre Vauthier at Cannes. Usually when I think about Vauthier I think about music awards shows and parties, not Cannes. I am thinking that Vanessa will bring the label to the red carpet during this years festival. I think that this silver sequined long sleeve wrap gown from the Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2015 Couture which features a daring split and dramatic plunging neckline would be the perfect Vauthier look for Vanessa to wear on the red carpet. I would swap the runways ugly belt for something like a silver metal band belt to really make sure that this is a gorgeous look for Vanessa on the red carpet.
The 2016 Cannes Film Festival opens Wednesday May 11, 2016 and runs through May 22, 2016.
