We are just a week out from the 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” and almost through all my wishes for the red carpet. Keeping things going I have a wish for model Cindy Bruna. Cindy has been killing it on the red carpets she has been on this year and I am hoping that she will grace the Met Gala red carpet really giving me a gorgeous look. I can picture Cindy taking to the red carpet in one of the custom Topshop or H&M looks, or in something by Balmain, but I decided to go a different direction for my wish for her. I think that this ivory Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Spring 2016 Couture gown rendered in silk satin and features a sheath silhouette with a bateau neckline, draped fringe, and beaded embellishment along the bodice. This vintage inspired draped gown, which slips on to avoid the use of a zipper, is a different type of look for Cindy but when I was picking gowns for her it was the piece that really stood out the most to me. A gold clutch, a vintage inspired faux bob, red lip, and gold sandals would really punctuate this vintage glam look for Cindy on the Met Gala red carpet. Florence Welch is getting ready to kick off another leg of her How Big Tour in Miami in just a few weeks so I am really hoping that she will jet to NYC for the Met Gala. Florence is currently the face of Gucci’s fine jewelry and watches, so I positive that if she does attend that she will take to the carpet wearing Gucci. I would figure that Gucci’s creative director would create something custom for her. I did go to the runway, which has plenty of looks that Florence would gravitate towards. I ended up choosing this nude Gucci Fall 2016 RTW organza a-line gown which feature 3-d poppy and leave details. I think that this is not exactly the route that Flo will go for the Met red carpet but it is something that she would go for. I imagine that the gown that Florence will wear will have lots of floral embroidery and be very flowing, more reminiscent of the Pre-Fall 2016 collection than that Fall 2016 collection. A bohemian goddess is really what I picture Florence looking like when she steps onto the Met steps. Jourdan Dunn is one of my favorite models to see on the red carpet. Jourdan knows how to really brings sexy to the red carpet without it going to be over done. Last year Jourdan wore a gorgeous custom Burberry gown and the year before that she was one of the women in custom Topshop. I went the route of choosing something short for her to wear this year, to shake things up. While I picked a short dress this Balmain Pre-Fall 2016 long sleeved mini dress is completely covered in Swarovski crystals and features a beaded fringe down the sleeves. This dress is ready for someone like Jourdan to really have her twirl her way up the stairs at the Met. We wait for real epic moments to capture on the red carpet and seeing Jourdan work the carpet in this dress, using the dramatic fringe to its full potential, would really be one of those moments. A pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Talitha’ patent leather sandals, smokey eye, and a sleek hairstyle are all that is needed to really make sure that this is a gorgeous red carpet look. I didn’t plan it this way but there are a lot of models in this post. We always see a whole host of the most fashionable models take to the red carpet at the met ball and British model Lily Donaldson is one of the ones that we usually see. I have been loving the very glamorous looks that Lily has been wearing on the red carpet recently and I am sure that she will be on top form come the Met Gala. I picked this gorgeous red Mugler Pre-Fall 2016 pierced, twist draped gown which features a deep v-neck with asymmetric shoulder straps, a twist detail at the bodice with pierced hardware at the front, and a draped floor length column skirt for Lily to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. This gown meshes sex appeal with modern glamour which is a perfect red carpet moment in my eyes. Keeping the look with that modern glamour via pulled back waves, a red pout, Christian Louboutin ‘Slikova’ sandals, and a red Lee Savage ‘Infinite Space’ clutch would really ensure that Lily is at her best on the Met red carpet. Reese Witherspoon is one who I would be most worried about not making a major impact on the Met Gala red carpet. She is either really memorable (like her pink Stella McCartney) or someone that fades into the background (like her red Jason Wu,) and this year I am hoping for something that is major high impact. I think that this white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture gown features an french regency draped silhouette, black sleeves, and light blue floral embellishments on the bodice. Reese really needs to bring all her diva stature out to not let this draped gown wear her, but I really think that this gown on her would be one of those memorable moments. A pair of white Christian Louboutin ‘Senora’ peep toe sandals and Tiffany & Co. jewelry including a pair of diamond and tourmaline drop earrings and cocktail ring added with a chic vintage inspired updo, classic makeup, and a pink lip would really ensure that Reese as one of her best red carpet looks ever. One look I am really interested in seeing is what Monse creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia will deliver as their first Met Gala look. The brand has been heavily loved since its debut last September and I am sure that someone will wear the brand for the Met. My choice would be Solange Knowles who is a killer fashionista. This pink and grey Monse Fall 2016 RTW one shoulder men’s shirt inspired striped gown would be the look that I would pick for Solange to make a killer red carpet moment. It is going to take some someone with edge, grace, and drama to make this gown work off the runway, and I think that Solange has the perfect chops to make this gown work. Keeping the accessories just a cool as the gown I would add a silver Prada pailette and beaded fringe embellished clutch and a pair of silver Prada metallic leather chunky heel, peep toe pumps to really ensure that Solange slays the Met Gala red carpet.
The 2016 Met Gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” will take place on Monday May 2, 2016.
