I’m just gonna keep plugging along posting a tone of red carpet wishes for the 2016 Met Gala “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” which takes place on Monday May 2, 2016. Amal Clooney emerged as a fashion favorite during her wedding weekend and has not slowed down since. I am quite excited to see what Amal will wear on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala as last year she really let my jaw drop in a sculptural Maison Margiela Couture by John Galliano ball gown. Amal has some great style and I believe that she will choose a killer gown for the 2016 Met Gala and this gold velvet Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture draped gown which features crystal embellishments and an open back. There is just a small handful of women I really want to see this gown on and Amal is one of them. I think that Amal has the grace and glamour to really evoke the vintage glamizon vibe that this gown gives off. A simple pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Bareta’ pumps, a vintage inspired updo, and a red lip would keep the vintage spirit of this look alive and ensure that Amal just floats like liquid gold up the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dakota Johnson is no stranger to the Met Gala red carpet having been a guest of Anna Wintour’s since before her breakout performance in Fifty Shades of Grey. So far I haven’t been really blown away by either her Jason Wu or Chanel looks on the Met Gala red carpet, but I have really only starting to love Dakota’s red carpet choices within the past eight months so my hopes are up for this year’s red carpet. This deep red velvet Valentino Spring 2016 Couture evening gown with a deep plunging neckline and a pleated skirt is exactly what I would love to see Dakota hit the Met Gala wearing. I would really like to see Dakota be the one to wear the runway’s gold body harness as I think that it adds just another level of couture detailing to keep in theme. A pair of gold metallic leather Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, a gold clutch, and a red lip would keep Dakota on the best dressed lists.Gigi Hadid has been up and down with her red carpet style. Last year she burst onto the red carpet scene rocking Atelier Versace for Oscar parties. More recently she has been wearing more obscure brands and I really hope that she gets back on the high fashion track. Now I know that last year Gigi Hadid wore a custom DVF gown, and while I think that she wouldn’t wear the same designer back to back when I was trying to choose a look for Gigi nothing other than DVF spoke to me. I saw this deep purple Diane von Furstenberg embellished wrap dress and I couldn’t help but picture a gorgeous custom gown with a dramatic train and I think that Gigi would be the perfect person to make this gown come to life on the red carpet. The custom gown would evoke the glamour of a bygone era and the styling should reflect that with glamorous Veronica Lake waves, a bold red lip, a black DVF clutch, and a pair of black sandals would ensure that Gigi really kills it on the Met Gala red carpet.I am intrigued to see if Kate Beckinsale will be back at the Met Gala this year. Kate has worn custom Diane Von Furstenberg, J. Mendel, and Marchesa to past years events and I am really hoping her friendship with Marchesa brings her back this year in their design. I think that this bronze metallic lace Marchesa Fall 2016 RTW fishtail gown which features a ruffle collar, floral embroidery and gold threadwork at the bodice, a sculptural peplum, and floral embroidery throughout would be a major moment for Kate to wear on the Met red carpet. The event celebrates the detailing that goes into making couture creations and I am expecting that not many gowns will be very simple and this gown is far from simple. Kate works this form of gown like no other and I think that she would be so graceful and elegant in this gown on the Met Gala. Simple updo, a gold Marchesa clutch, and a pair of gold Brian Atwood ‘Lisette’ pumps would keep Kate on the top of the Met red carpet. We can always count on former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr to bring a glamorous sexy to the red carpet. When I was trying to decide what look to pick for Miranda to wear I needed to look no further than the glamorous lingerie inspired Reem Acra Fall 2016 RTW collection. This yellow silk draped gown which feature beautiful beading around the neck and down the bodice would look so chic on Miranda, a more elegant look than overtly sexy (which is what we are used to seeing her wearing. A pair of silver sandals, old Hollywood waves, a silver clutch, diamond drop earrings, and a bold red lip would just round out a perfect look for Miranda to wear for the Met. Last up for my first day of Met Gala wishes (don’t worry there are still 3 posts a day for the next 5 days) is for Rosamund Pike. Last year I was really shocked that Rosamund skipped the Met Gala but I think she will be back on the red carpet this year. Her first Met appearance in 2014 was lackluster wearing a Louis Vuitton look that just did not live up to what we expect to see on the Met Gala red carpet. Rosamund has worn Dior Couture a few times and has sat front row at a few Dior shows and I think that outside of the usual Dior suspects (Jennifer Lawrence & Marion Cotillard) that Rosamund would be the perfect person to wear the brand on the Met Gala red carpet. I think that this sleeveless white Christian Dior Fall 2015 Couture lace bodice gown which features a sheer a-line skirt would look so effortlessly chic on Rosamund giving us a moment that would be sure to turn heads. I would keep this look very light and airy with adding just a pair of silver sandals, a pair of Dior “Majestueuse Diamant Pastel” earrings in 18K white gold, diamonds, yellow diamonds, pink diamonds and blue-grey diamonds, a vintage inspired hairdo, and a pink lip to ensure that Rosamund has a beautiful red carpet moment at this years Met Gala.
