Last year we were only treated to one of Thai actress Araya A. Hargate’s red carpet moments via great red carpet moments, her feathered Ashi Studio gown. Araya was only seen on Instagram wearing a custom Giambattista Valli Couture gown for her second red carpet turn, which was actually my favorite of the two. I am hoping that this year Araya fairs better with Getty capturing her red carpet moments as she usually brings a lot of glamour to the Cannes red carpet. While still considered petite at 5’6″ Araya always takes to the red carpet in big gold ballgowns and I am hoping that this year is more of the same in that regard. The more of the same usually ends with each look being a ball gown. Up first for Araya is another Giambattista Valli gown with this stunning Spring 2014 Couture blue and white floral embellished, peplum ball gown. This is a look that I am shocked still hasn’t gotten a red carpet moment and I do believe that Araya would look amazing on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. The other even more dramatic gown I picked for Araya to rock for Cannes is this dark and moody purple and black Ralph & Russo Fall 2014 Couture gown. This tiered, high low, floral embroidered, strapless ballgown is a definite statement, but I am also a little fearful that no one will pick it up because of it’s similarities to a gown from the same collection that Aishwarya Rai wore for the festival last year. I think that these two gowns would make for killer moments for Araya on the Cannes red carpet, bold and glamorous.Eva Longoria tends to only get it right at Cannes, but last year Eva didn’t even get it right wearing a custom Atelier Versace or Gabriella Cadena. I am hoping that the dramatic, diva side of Eva is back on the red carpet at this year’s festival. I think that if she chose either of the gowns I have chosen here that she would have a fashion win on her hands. Up first is a gold Elie Saab Fall 2015 Couture spaghetti strap ball gown. This gown needs to be seen at Cannes and I think that Eva is the best person to give it that major moment that it needs. The other look I picked for Eva is this sage green Zuhair Murad Spring 2016 Couture strapless fully embellished ballgown which features a sexy split. This gown meshes classic glamour with a modern sexiness, which is exactly what I think Eva should rock on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. I just pray that she has two major moments on the red carpet this year. Jane Fonda had an up and down appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. Her first look a stellar electric blue Atelier Versace gown made my Best Dressed of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival list, but her second look a Victorian, witch-y Schiaparelli Couture gown topped my Worst Dressed of 2015 list. That Schiaparelli Couture gown marked the downfall of my love of Jane’s red carpet looks till I hope she redeems herself at this years Cannes Film Festival. I combed through all the collections trying to pick the perfect looks for Jane to rock on the red carpet, and I think I have found them. The first is this sexy, black Atelier Versace Spring 2016 Couture halterneck, cold shouldered gown. When Jane and Versace get together there is usually something magical that happens, and I believe that this is exactly what we should expect from her this year. The other gorgeous gown that I picked for Jane is a gorgeous bronze Ralph & Russo Fall 2015 Couture gown with a long sleeved, embellished blouse and a pleated skirt. I can picture that this gown being so chic and gorgeous on the red carpet. Dutch model Lara Stone is one of those L’Orealista’s that will take to the red carpet at Cannes wearing something more relaxed and simple compared to the big dramatic gowns that I have wished for most of these women to wear on the red carpet. I would really love to see Lara take to the red carpet wearing some custom modern glam looks from her friends at Calvin Klein, Givenchy. Last year Lara only walked the red carpet at one premiere, wearing a vintage Versace gown that I wasn’t a fan of, but also attended the amfAR Gala, wearing a much more favorable gold Saint Laurent gown. I am hoping that this year Lara really gives me some gorgeous and glamorous red carpet moments, and the two gowns that I picked for Lara would ensure that happens. This light blue Atelier Versace Fall 2012 Couture gown falls under the umbrella of gowns I can not believe have never gotten a red carpet moment. What better platform to wear this gown then in Cannes overlooking the French Riviera? The other gown I picked for Lara is this sleek and sexy Saint Laurent Spring (or Fall) 2016 Couture strapless gown which features a wide patent leather belt and a sexy center split. I don’t exactly know how to qualify this collection that was presented as a couture collection but during the Fall 2016 RTW shows, is it considered a spring or fall collection? Whatever season it may be I think that Lara would look gorgeous in this simplistic gown, which gives a perfect platform for some killer diamonds. Either look would make me happy, and both would make me ecstatic. Rounding out today is yet another of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Sonam Kapoor. Sonam always nails the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she is going to bring to the red carpet at this years Cannes Film Festival. Sonam always brings dramatic gowns to the Cannes Film Festival. Last year she wore a gorgeous electric blue Ralph & Russo Couture gown and a lime green Elie Saab Couture feathered gown and each look was dramatic and bold, exactly what I am expecting from Sonam this year. I went through equally dramatic choices from Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, and Ralph & Russo before I settled on the gowns that I did. The first look is a black and white Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 Couture sleeveless, color blocked gown which features a sheer overlay and an embellished bodice. This gown is a modern glamour that I think Sonam would work unlike any other. Sonam was the first person I thought of when I first saw this gown on the runway and I am really hoping that she brings it to the Cannes red carpet. The other gown I picked is a dramatic red Michael Cinco Spring 2016 Couture long sleeved ballgown. We usually only see Michael Cinco on B-list stars but I think that this dramatic embellished lace ballgown needs a Cannes red carpet moment and Sonam is one of the few I really thoughts could make this gown work without getting overwhelmed. I also thought Araya could pull it off but I think the ruby red coloring would look gorgeous on Sonam. Whatever she ends up picking for her red carpet runs I am sure Sonam will deliver drama and elegance.
The 2016 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 11, 2016 to May 22, 2016.
