You Better Werk: Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab Couture at a Charity Gala

INDIA-ROYALSOn Sunday (April 10, 2016) Sonam Kapoor attended a charity gala held in Mumbai, India in honor of the royal visit by Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. I follow Sonam on Snapchat because I adore her and love that she posts her red carpet looks as she is getting read for and attending red carpet events (it is honestly how I find her looks.) I had no idea where she was headed when I saw this look on Snapchat but I was immediately able to ID it. I was interested to see if the stars of Bollywood would embrace the Elie Saab Spring 2016 Couture collection as I could see some of them taking his Indian sari inspired collection as cultural appropriation since Elie is a Lebanese based, French haute couture designer. Well when Sonam hit the red carpet in his most Sari like design I believe that her fellow big name Bollywood stars, and L’Oreal ambassadors, Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif will also take to this collection. As you will see starting later this week I stayed away from wishing for these ladies to wear this collection as, like I said, was not sure how they would take to the very literal interpretation of their traditional dress. This look on Sonam too the beautiful beading and embroidery we are used to seeing on traditional sari’s and added a bit of French couture flair and I think she looked ever so elegant in the design. Will she don another look from this collection for her duties at Cannes? Hard to say, I didn’t pick any Elie Saab for her for her main carpet duties but maybe I will have to look into putting her in one of the looks for one of the Chopard parties she frequents during the festival.
